Short hairstyles on women

July 12 2017

I am curious to get some views on short hairstyles on women. I have had a short 'funky' haircut for years now. The style has stayed quite similar (I prefer the messy 'just been fu*ked' look) and the colour of my hair changes quite regularly. My hairdresser knows me well enough now to leave it just long enough for a partner to grab a 'fistful' .. mmmmm Over the years I have had many men question me about whether I am gay or not - simply based on the fact that I have short hair. I am not gay or even bi-sexual (not that there is anything wrong with being either), but I'm definitely straight and do adore a tall strong sexy man. IMO, whether I have short or long hair does not define who I am sexually, and I think I rock the short haircut and exude sexiness, but it seems a lot of men prefer a woman to have long hair. Very interested to hear your perspectives - Thanks in advance Sexy_Vivacious 💋 xx

I'm definitely kinda traditional in that I like my women with long hair however every once in awhile you come across a chick with the short hair look who just absolutely nails it and is sexy as fuck! Personally I think you're on the right track because you change your hair often and that can only be a good thing. Verity is the spice of life as they say! Also for a women of your age you're rocking a gorgeous body so keep at it x

I wouldn't have short or long hair as the tipping point to whether I found a lady attractive, but I do prefer long hair on most women (there's the rare case that short suits better). For me I like long hair (between shoulder length and mid back). Short hair seems more abrupt and 'angular'. For guys (IMO as a straight guy), I think no soft edges (ugh for letting go with a 'dad bod') looks best. Curves (which long hair is), exudes femininity to me. Each to their own though and I still find many short and medium length hair women sexy as hell, just not quite as much as they could be in my eyes (and again not going to and never would dictate how anyone should do their hair. As someone without much hair I'm jealous of all who have enough to style in any fashion 😁). - Posted from rhpmobile

Ever since my year 10 art teacher I have found short hair sexy as fuck. It always catches my eye and yet I have learnt that many different personalities except perhaps the over the top airhead wear it. And yes you have sexy vivacious in spades.

If you have the right head and face shape , it can look quite sexy. Personally , I prefer long hair , but not essential . If you attract me ( it takes more than hair length alone ) that's all that matters.. I had a door to door salesgirl knock on my office door once.. She was absolutely stunning with her short hair and near white in colour. Can't remember what she was selling but I did invite her back for a coffee later which was nice.. The only ladies hair style I don't like is that ( I think they call it a bob ) short at the back and sweeping back pointing down under the chin .. So many middle age women have that and the only reason I can think of is they must want to turn men off.. Guess what.. It works... Apoliges to any you ladies who have this style, just one persons opinion.. Jay..

Wow just looked at you profile pics and from what can be seen you certainly rock a short hairstyle ,oober sexy and hot Jay,how opinions can vary ,Mrs B rocks a reverse bob and I love it on her and other women ,again I think it comes down to face shape and structure if it works or not ,but most important if they think they look hot, then that's gotta be a good thing right ? - Posted from rhpmobile

I love short hair on a woman, not clippered short but something along the styling lines of Jamie Lee Curtis or Sharon Stone.

I do like women with long hair but that's just a personal preference thing, mind you have met a few woman with short hair and it suits them well. cant say I have ever thought that someone is gay from their hair cut/style. But really if someone is to judge anyone due to their hair then they are probably someone to avoid.

Right ? If they feel good about themself that's all that matters .I definately agree face structure and shape are the key and the ladies I've seen who CAN pull if off are real head turners . I guess the women I'm thinking of are the ones who have no idea and should of selected a better hairdresser.

Miss Little here - my personal preference is for long hair on women. While some women can pull off short hair - I'm a big fan of androgynous looks - I can't honestly say I've ever met a woman with short hair that I didn't think would look sexier with longer hair. To me short hair is more masculine - not saying that women with short hair are masculine but just that it makes them look more masculine. I must also admit to having said 'Thanks but no thanks' on here purely because of a short hairstyle more than once - I'm talking buzz cut short or short and spiky on top. Before I get hung out to dry, I'm not saying women can't be attractive with short hair, just that my preference aesthetically is women with longer hair, even just a Bob with a bit of length around the face, unless they're very androgynous in their style of dress and mannerisms also. Short or long, either is fine. Do what works best for you, and be confident in your looks (judging by your pictures you are a very attractive woman), and by what I read in your profile, you sound like you know what you want, to me that is more important, than a hair cut. However I do have a preference when it comes to colour, red head girls just do something chemically in my head. Its a natural attraction.

I've sported a clippered pixie (much shorter than yours) now for nearly 12 years and have never been mistaken for gay. I think perhaps it's more whether the woman can carry it off as not all women can. I've never understood the affinity or stereotyping of "long hair for women being more feminine" etc...... thank goodness my hubby has thought my ultra short tresses have been sexy since we were in school as I only grew my hair long for our wedding!!!! Lol..... silly looking back but ya get that on the big jobs hehe. Btw Sexy..... you rock your locks 🖒🖒 - Posted from rhpmobile

But unfortunately I have to wait for the right cause to make it worthwhile.... near positive there's going to be something among the scars, lumps and bumps and it's going to be the only way to get a proper visual but I don't think I'll be the next Sinead O'Connor

My wife has had both short AND long... amazing either way, sexy is an attitude not a look in my opinion.. if you feel sexier one length over the other you will automatically apear sexier.. - Posted from rhpmobile

Thanks all for your thoughts. It's interesting to hear why people have a preference one way or the other in relation to hair length on women Also thank you for your kind words in regards to my short hair. I wasn't chasing compliments ... but I will accept them with thanks 💋 In relation to me just being me, (you do you) that's something I've always done and I'm extremely comfortable and confident with who I am and where I am at in life .. that includes sexually and with my short sexy haircut. I agree 100% that sexy is an attitude and I have plenty of attitude.. lol Thanks again xx - Posted from rhpmobile

...it's the woman and not necessarily the hairstyle that is attractive.

My optometrist has the whole Sinead O'connor hairstyle and she rocks it, as does Sinead. It's hard to picture her with any other hairstyle, but then again I've never seen her with another hairstyle. But were my mother to go the whole Sinead? It would just look stupid and shit, and I would tell her so. To her face and all. In those exact terms. And then she would hit me.

Currently sporting a shoulder length bob and have been fir the last 4 years. Just because it's practical and stress-free in terms of styling. Wash and go. But also the style suits my face. Short hair, fashionably cut, is wonderful and can be feminine. Wash dry and go. A good styling means your hair sits well several times after washing with minimum fuss. Being a busy working single mother, suits me just fine.. Love it but requires constant trims. So was more high maintenance than long hair. Was I mistaken for being gay? Not that I can recall. Maybe at the boxing gym where I train. But they never tell me in my face. 😉 I had short styles like Demi Moore in Ghost. And for a while sported a Halle Berry style for about 5 years. I got lots of compliments and come ons on that one. I had to style it a bit in the morning as there's no hiding unruly short hair else you'd look like a troll. 😰 Long hair, for me, is be boring and requires constant brushing in morning and afternoon. When it goes haywire, literally in hot humid days,I tied it up in a pony tail the whole summer. Great for bedroom sexcapades, but I don't like the maintenance. I'll buy a wig if I have to. For role play. Or borrow one of Annie's.😎

...do you have a preference of hairstyles on a man? Right now I run between the average ivy league ''business look'' to grabbing the clippers and going #2 buzz cut. A far cry from days gone by when it was down to the middle of my back...ahhh those days of rock-n-roll, just glad that they are past! I agree with Lily about ease of care of shorter hair albeit I do like the look of the longer hair except when the wind is blowing. I also don't like having to fuss around to feel I look as presentable as possible which for me...ain't an easy task! Over......to you!

Winona Ryder is spectacular with her short hair styles. Shailene Woodley rocks her short hair too. Miley Cyrus, Milla Jovovich and Madonna were also stunning when they had short hair styles. I think beauty comes in many shapes and forms. I'm heterosexual, but my eyes gorge on eye candy of both sexes indiscriminately. I'm a beauty glutton! Not everyone rocks short hair styles. And not everyone rocks long hair either. Women with long hair that look tangled or very dry and straggly or with split ends ... that isn't fetching either. I think long or short, it is more vital that one's hair is neat, glossy-healthy and soft to the touch. And one's hairstyle should be an extension of one's personality and one has to feel confident in whatever style one has chosen. It's also prudent to see if we have the facial features that would suit the hairstyle we want and select the style that will make us look prettiest. It's a form of marketing of oneself, no? The outward packaging counts! Personally, I prefer long hair... it looks more feminine and emits a softer vibe, IMO. My hair grows way too fast and the one time I was brave enough to sport a short stylish cut decades ago, it was done after mum got me to have photos taken of me with several different virtual hairstyles. It was some new fandangled booth + software thingy set up in a huge mall and because it was new technology back then, members of the public had crowded around to watch all the guinea pigs brave enough to step up and try it out. The virtual photo of me with a short hairstyle seemed to gain general approval amongst everyone who was watching and one man even gave a thumbs up. So... I ventured into uncharted territory then. I really regretted it because a good short hairstyle is best done by a good hairstylist... and it didn't come cheap. It cost me slightly over double what I used to pay back then to maintain my long hair. Worse, I needed a haircut pretty often because my hair grew way too quickly and the hairstyle got out of shape too fast. Yipers... burnt a hole in my pocket maintaining my short hairstyle!

Some surfer dudes and young chaps do rock the wavy, medium length hair look. My Solicitor sports that look for his weekends, methinks, but on workdays, he wears it neat and nicely combed back. Back in the 80s, when the mullet was popular, it made me cringe. It would bother me if a man spends more time shampooing, conditioning and applying hair products to his hair than I do. I love love love the neat, corporate look and short hairstyles on men.

ChasinMidnight I agree with PurePeony in that I dislike long hair on men .. but I'm also not a fan of the military short cur (perhaps because my ex husband had that ... lol ) Again I agree with PurePeony and I think neat corporate look is great on men. I've dated a few guys who have had their hair clippered to about a 2 in the back and sides with finger length through the top .. that's a sexy look ! Although I must say I have always been a sucker for a man with a shaved head, particularly if he's tall with muscles and maybe a couple of tatts ... just sayin' - Posted from rhpmobile
