Should I cook

February 19 2013

I am meeting a lovely lady in a few weeks time and I was thinking that it would be nice if I cooked her dinner, and then breakfast in the morning. Now, I'm just your average sort of chef, cooking meals for me and my girls, so nothing flash to talk about. And then I find out that she used to be a chef...And now I'm thinking, should I just take her out to dinner instead...or maybe I should make her sit naked on the bench while I cook for her Be grateful for your thoughts. Cheers. Ricky

don't give a damn about the food as long as they don't have to cook it.I have worked in kitchens and at the end of service and cleanup a take away is ordered for staff so no one has to work !I think you will find what is appreciated is your thought and effort.Don't try and cook anything beyond your ability, just do a favourite well. And don't ask for a critique, just enjoy "normal" conversation.

....I have found the best nights/meets have been with guys who cook at home for us. I am an ex foodie/chef as well and in all honesty I much prefer to dine in on a first date if this is the case. Restaurants are not intimate enough for me therefore if I have a choice ...... lay the table baby

don't leave out the under table service. Now you can't get that in a restaurant...USUALLY!

Ricky.... is this the FIRST meeting you'll have with this woman? If so...... it might be putting the cart before the horse to consider she'll come to your home at all...... .... unless there are elements of this interaction you're not telling us, which I suspect. My view..... based upon how I interact with people.... I meet for a quick drink, with no expectations beyond good banter, which Ive pre-established through email/phone calls already. If the drinks go well... I'd consider saying "hey, Im hungry.... we should eat". If you lead, and you're company is enjoyable, why wouldnt she want to share a meal?!DGPS.If she was a chef..... I wouldnt cook for her..... I'd cook WITH her. That gives you opportunity to learn, talk, interact... and dependant upon how well you know eachother.... teasing, touch and silly play.

If she is a cook, cook with her. It would be more fun interacting with her while cooking. Great fun I reckon.- Posted from rhpmobile

Finger foods! Oyters, smoked salmon, brie, dip, crackers, prosciutto with melon, you get the idea. Eating with your hands is too sexy. Throw in some nice wine or champagne, and I doubt you can go wrong. (Unless she's allergic to seafood, of course).

Invites a lot of contact in the kitchen and some shit stirring. I find a lot of banter really helps set the mood.

You should sooooo cook.   Perhaps she could bring you a cute little apron to protect your sausage from oil splatters?

Quoting '50zcool'You want to invite her over and then ask her to work ? or teach ! I wouldn't. I would however cook something simple yet delicious. You can hand her a glass of wine and she could watch whilst you did the cooking. Up to her to volunteer. If for an entree or dessert you decide on a cheese platter, may I suggest Saint Angel. Oh my God!!!! Is it good!!! Heaps better than Brie or Camembert. So soft and gooie.....eaten with fresh rasberries or red grapes or something similar.... It's like eating velvet. lol. Mind you, at $85 per kilo it aint cheap. lol. Well it costs that much in Balmain. Might be chaeaper where you are. lol.

Cook for her bro. And if you just happen to drop some sauce or cream on yourself. She could lick it up for you. Team work!

Ifmyou are even thinking of cooking for this lucky lady, there is a spark. If she says yes to your invite, two sparks. It's the company and the gesture, not all about the food. You go, fantastic!

...just invite her over for dinner, if she's comfortable with that she'll tell you and if not most likely make another suggestion. Plan on something light and cool if it's a warm night and comfort food if it's cold outside...have a few good bottles of wine on hand too. If she is a chef who cares, she may voluntarily and quite humorously enjoy jumping in and helping...especially if you look like a bit of a kitchen klutz, enjoy the moment and let it flow naturally. Natural is sensual...and can be fun, especially if you decide to have a food fight with brie, cream cheese and fresh berries. All this presumptive assumptive Mission Impossible crap and telling her you want to cook with her may make you sound like a celery stalker.......JFDI and see if she's there in the morning.

Love your comments :) OP, how lovely that you have a sexy date to look forward to. Forget about all the cautions not to bring her to your home. You're a grown man - presumably you've screened properly, you've asked and she's said yes, and it's all set. If not, go ahead and ask - if she's not comfy coming to your home you have plenty of other options for a first meeting place. Whatever you do I hope you have a wonderful time :) In terms of cooking for her, I have a bunch of friends who are chefs. They're always saying people are too intimidated to cook for them but they LOVE it when someone is brave enough to. So, be brave ;)

I think his is a little less about the 'cooking' and more about the potential that you think you have with her.I'm thinking you have both definitely determined that you'll be doing some extra dessert type stuff afterFor me, if it was the first time I'd met a guy. I'd far rather meet somewhere public, than at your house. You don't sound like a looni, far from it....but there's a few around. I like to be taken out for dinner....so that could work...and then if she wants to come back to yours for some extra curricula activities and stay the night and you make her brekki ( oh what a gorgeous man you are) then go for it.Less pressure on you...and better for her

I would cook while she is there, it would be a good relaxing way to chat, the cooking while she there is a good way to distract from any nerves that you or her may have.   Even include her in the cooking, like a bit of stirring here and there.
