Singlets ..... Yes or No

August 02 2010

Oh this may be a silly question. Now chatting to the a few of the woman where I work and they told me women are turn off by singlets. I did point out Paul Mercurio in Strictly Ballroom and of cause they said I am no young Paul Mercurio. SO is it true is the humble singlet a turn off? CiaoHermes

especially as i prefer not to see great big forests of underarm hair on either gender. Also if the body that's wearing it is extremely average or less...not such a good look.it only looks great on well toned torsos...otherwise cover up with a t shirt or shirt please.

I would not worry about the opinions of the random rabble-pay closer attention to the lady with whom you should wish to find favour...focus on her and forget the malingering harpies.. Personally, I associate singlets with men who are refined yet remain rugged and very masculine. Perhaps these women have only ever known rough, vulgar men-to wear singlets and these traits were sadly not just confined to the bedroom and therefore they have an aversion to singlets as a result ;p I'm at a loss as to what could be a better sight to greet you than a fit healthy man in your life in a crisp white cotton singlet and a smile? Under a professional's armour of a suit or for recreational attire-bring out the black singlets ;p Yes I know barechested is best-but unless I take a chair and a stick everywhere I go with the fellow-or perhaps a lead...yes that would send a very clear message....well it did that night...I digress. I consider it mangerie-lol (man lingerie) where a corset holds, supports and enhances a woman's form-a well fitting cotton singlet expands to fit the beauty and masculinity of a man that can wear one convincingly with subtle confidence. Nothing can seem more desirable than when a man wears one under a shirt and suit-it's like a gift to be unwrapped, or the blissful vision when teamed with boardies-a man that loves the sea in a singlet-knowing his skin will be smelling like the ocean-grrr A man riding on a mountain bike in the forest wearing a singlet-sunlight on his skin-grr (I apologise it is most unladylike to go grr) Muscular but not muscle-bound-quite TDF Quickly-bring me the smelling salts....the mere thought of such a wondrous sight so early in this winter morn has given me the vapours.... Especially knowing there are only four more weeks till Spring arrives and that can only mean singlets will be worn more frequently as the days become longer and warmer...anyways I must go to the gym now-oh what a coincidence the young men wear singlets there as well-wish me a good workout ;p

lolz... I rather enjoy the benefits brought from full sleave body hugging thermals from Katmandu shops... or the classic Bonds T-shirt style.. or maybe a Haines white T-shirt style. I often wear singlets to the gym because they don't restrict your arms. I mean... really... who cares what women want? Hugs Stalky

On a young Paul Mecurio, defintely not. Umm, I also am partial to the blue wifebeater and stubbies with work boots (and a tool belt please?) look on fit & tidy tradie. Mmmm, last summer the chippie working next door was dressed like that and he spent a lot of time on the roof... mighty fine perving. Ahh if I was a more confident woman I'd have called him over to take a look at my headboard.Um, singlets on men with beer guts/hairy backs/pigeon chests are turn-offs... but those blokes might be turn offs anyway and it's got nothing to do with the clothing?

Singlets under shirts? I just associate that with old blokes in suits, big guts bulging over waistbands, and long lunches. Some guys pull it off quite well I reckon, unfortunately, I don't. Oh well. Stick to tshirts

I am not a fan of the singlet. Even if the man wearing it is buff he would be 100 times better without it in my eyes.

I agree with casava. The singlet looks good in certain situations, mostly when you've put the effort in at the gym. But I have an additional question, do women think guys are "mummies boys" when a guy wears a singlet under a shirt or t-shirt?

why the fuck is a navy singlet refered to as that? Surely just as many whitecollar workers and celebs are guilty! To own and wear a navy singlet should be an earned priveledge....a badge of honour of a hard working man.and aint talking gymbies here.......shearers ...shed hands..... station hands.....truckies.....manual labourers......rose tattoo fans....lolCheers Nev.....i earned mine....have you?
