To me a slut is not a person who loves lots of sex with different partneres but it's someone who carries themselves badly in pulbic. It's all about being descret, lady in the street & a freak in the bed. - Posted from rhpmobile

I try not to use the word except in 'dirty talk' where the person has explained beforehand that they like to be called a slut during sex. Even then, I had trouble the first few times, when a female partner specifically asked me to. I got the S-sound out and then kind of froze. She must have thought I was speaking Parseltongue. Don't worry, practice makes perfect, and I'm all over it, these days. As for non dirty talk situations, again, I try not to use it unless someone first uses it to describe themselves in a positive way. E.g. Her: I'm a real slut.Me: Cool, how is being a slut working out for you? but never Her: I've just been with my 30th sexual partner. I like round numbers.Me: Cool, how is being a slut working out for you? So to answer the question more specifically, I try not to make the judgement about whether or not they're a 'slut' and/or use the label on someone unless they practically invite me to. There are folk around who want to hear the S-word, but I hope I'm never caught using it pejoratively towards someone who would be offended.

Anyone calling me a slut won't make it into my bed, and should they use that term while already in it they will be straight out the door.

Oh Slippery I love that you used a Potter reference!!! If my son wasn't 12 I would share (he loves whenever he sees a sneaky reference!!) To answer OP I agree that it can be used for fun (hubby and I always call each other sluts either in the bedroom or when recounting a good night!) but it should never be used to label in a derogatory way... sorry youngfit but I feel It is noone else's business how someone conducts their personal affairs unless is is directly interfering with you. Slut is a word that has been used to make women feel bad for enjoying themselves for far too long. - Posted from rhpmobile

It's only derogatory if delivered by a bigot or if you are afraid of feeling judged or put down (by a bigot).

Of the word Slut. Or the c bomb either. In any context. So very judgemental. When used by men to describe a woman it is usually hypocritical.

As I enjoy sex with different people. I have been called a slut in a negative fashion from men I have turned down before. ... Reckon it bothers me? Not on your nelly. I am in no way ashamed of my sexuality, in fact I'm quite proud of it! - Posted from rhpmobile

It is a word loaded with judgement about and ownership of women, and it's used by men and women. So unlike other words it is hard to take ownership of It and undermine it way for instance that 'nigger' has been adopted by Afro Americans. I never use it.

Totally agree with Unicorn99- words have NO POWER over you, unless YOU decide to let it... ....And then who's the one with the problem----- it ain't meeeeeee 😂😂 (That goes for all words, including the 'C' bomb.!) 😉

To me it conjures an image of a woman who is strong enough to embrace all aspects of her sexuality, take control of it and enjoy it to the fullest. Confident and independent enough to take control of her pleasure in and out of the bedroom and not give a toss what others may think about her because of it. Sadly the word has so many negative connotations in the minds of most. Some women I have known have embraced the word in the bedroom and seems to have given them some licence to be free to unleash some deep hidden passions at time.

I think words like slut are like cock shots. Anyone who has been out in society in the last few decades would know that although some people are fans, others are not ok with them. Therefore throwing either one in a woman's face without confirming she is ok with it first is a sign of total disrespect in my view.

In my experience, certain women are labelled sluts by both men and women. Men are jealous of women that can freely ''score'' sex with ease, thus affixing the ''slut'' label to them. They'd dive into bed with them in a heartbeat if given half a chance, mind. Other women also label certain women ''sluts'' because.. um.... they are jealous of women that can freely ''score'' sex with ease, thus affixing the ''slut'' label to them. I suspect many women would be a little more sluttish if only they could.I don't call anybody a ''slut'' anymore, although I did many years ago, purely and simply because I realized that if I was a woman that was even halfway attractive, I would be one of the biggest sluts going, and I probably wouldn't care what people thought. Mind you, being labelled a ''slut'' in a small town can be quite detrimental to your social status.

where one woman that had sex with blokes and I'll quote her "I love playing pool and fucking" and she loved playing pool and fucking, yet never called a slut and one cool woman and without a doubt she would have been, still even a great fuck because she loved fucking and playing pool... But a woman that was called a slut and the way it was put has stuck with me ever since. She had kids, often out and the kids home fending for them selves or dumped off on some, anyone that could baby sit for a night and those kids would be wondering where mum was two or three days later when she would turn up fucked from living it up with the high end corporate boys party bashes in fancy joints and money talks and she fucked her way to all the presents and hollywood attention looking the part and playing up to being the slut and in the club and if it were not for the kiddies, she would not be called a slut. So I'm not one to label a woman as a slut loosely and if I did call a woman a slut, it wouldn't be without reason and I don't presume everyone thinks of it for the same reason so I only ever make something of it if it matters. It is just like Mado said. It is all in the context and way one presents themselves. I grew up in my teens with fucking morons who believed the more you could fuck the bigger and better you were. Now if these people had have just been having shit loads of sex and enjoying it that would be cool. But it becomes a fairly poor and sick thing when it becomes a competition and people have to tell the world of their exploits. With the way our world is moving with the media throwing sex down kids throats I doubt that the word slut will keep its definition. Just glad I grew up without this technology dictating my life as it does some of the young ones today. Those that I knew as a teen would have had video on their phones to show off as well.

Thrown at a woman when a mans sexual advances are kindly declined. We men can be such joyful characters when our egos are damaged. A slutty look from a well dressed lady is nothing short of arousing. One word can be used in many different ways I prefere the positive nature of "slut" it can be a powerful compliment when given in the correct manner. - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Meander'Therefore throwing either one in a woman's face without confirming she is ok with it first is a sign of total disrespect in my view. but it can be used as terms of endearment, or terms of insult - couldn't the person just infer the meaning from the context in most cases? (I'm saying 'most cases', so, not weird cases like where a recipient might not speak the same language, or where Stephen Hawking is delivering it devoid of tone via his speaking bot, etc)

Mrs here. Mr already wrote but I need to have my 2 cents worth too from a females point of view of course. The definition of a slut to me personally, is somebody getting alot more sex then the average wanna be. you can take it as an offense or you can take it the other way. I personally consider it "getting lucky".

Never in my life have I called anyone a slut... In the right company I can swear with the best of them ' but some words I just dont use and thats one of them.. I've known a few females who love sex and have slept around , but never have I had the need to label them a slut. Its my observation it's only ppl who have dull sexless lifes are the one's who feel a need to label a female a slut...

Quoting 'S_OnTheLoose'but it can be used as terms of endearment, or terms of insult - couldn't the person just infer the meaning from the context in most cases? If I knew the person well. I'm fine with my friends calling me a bitch, because they know I'm cool with THEM saying it, and they know I know how they mean it. (Stephen Hawking can call me a slut any day by the way, as long as he calls me.)

She got slut tattooed on her ass since we have been together, she loves it. But not in a dirty fuck everyone and anyone kind of way. More of a I'm such a slut cause I love lots of sex and lots of different kinds of sex kind of way. Guess it depends on in what manner someone is saying the word. It's interesting to hear what everyone's thoughts are on the word. Because we both love the idea of what's going through people's minds if they see it if it slips out at the beach or the pool. Was definately a good conversation starter when it slip out in a Vegas pool party this year. Was funny to see how many guys tried to strike up conversation. Haha. - Posted from rhpmobile

It depends on the intent of the person saying it but also that the person identifying as a slut wants you to call them that. Some people who are into d&s and get off on degregation then that is the whole point of calling them a slut (myself somewhat included) ...... But in those instances there is the magical ingredient called consent which makes calling them that all okay to begin with. As mea said its all in the conversations you have prior to having sex instead of just busting out stuff for the first time. In the heat of the that may or may not be okay with someone's boundaries and ultimately it's also about respecting said boundaries of they are not okay with it. - Posted from rhpmobile

Referring to my post above... even though I never felt the need to call anyone a slut , I still get the drift of others here who use it as a aphrodisiac on them self or a receptive partner... I get that...

I use every word possible, I do swear as best any male and don't hold back, with exception of the word 'slut'. As a teenager I did use it freely to describe any number of girls I knew that had multiple partners. Until that is, I was called a 'slut' by a casual partner in an ugly and very public exchange over my continuing 'adventures' the word scared me and at the time felt like I was torn in two. I have never used the term since and will let fly on anyone using it in my presence. It's as offensive as it gets to me. - Posted from rhpmobile

Depends where and when you live/lived... Today the common dictionary meaning can be either "a woman who is sexually promiscuous" or "has poor morals and cannot exercise proper judgment" (as to what it doesn't say). In Archaic terms it was "a prostitute" or even just "a dirty or unkempt woman" All of which I think are ridiculous. In this day and age I don't think women should be demeaned or 'named' for doing what men have been 'expected' to do (and has been widely accepted for centuries). I personally don't think the word should be used at all, as today it has no meaning given that men and women are supposed to be equal in every way, in a social sense, at least... It's strange, because I have heard the word on American 'Family TV shows' (e.g. The Nanny, MASH etc) for many, many years. They don't seem to have a problem with it there... I think it's just one of those left-over things from times gone by when men had all the power and could do as they liked and women were not equal and were held to ridiculously high morals and low levels of knowledge and education. Thank God they're gone.
