Relate to that statement, missmyyear2016, as I find myself using the Internet/social media way too much lately while I stay up late to watch over an unwell parent, who doesn't fall sound asleep until 2am! I started trying to cut down on the time I spend on social media in the last week by watching TV shows online, which still sees me using the Internet 😛 besides, I can only watch so many TV shows, or there are only so many quality TV shows to watch lol So, to answer your question......yes, it can be true that one is spending quality time on social media, well, at least I am at the moment 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

Social media is the new realm of interpersonal interaction.... I spend too much time deliberating over threads, comments etc. It's a hard cycle to break too I might add - Posted from rhpmobile

Guilty here too. I love it.I also don't think its a huge issue unless its taking over your life.

I have absconded from FB, as I find it totally tedious, reading the same crap and looking at my friends' and family's food pics, boring travel pics, and pics of their 'cute kids doing mundane stuff like 20 pics of them eating ice cream'. REally? I still have FB but culled my list and hardly login. I onlyt have my immediate family and very close friends. One thing FB is good for, it reminds me of my close family and friends' birthdays. Other social media, I dont care. I do keep in touch with current affairs via online news media. I work in an industry where technology is our business and constantly bombarded with info via all the tech tools around me. In my off time, I like to deal with reality and being tactile. And focus on my personal development - emotional, mental, intellectual and physical. I suppose I like the RHP forum, the only social media that i deal with. It amuses me - the characters and topics. but i ccan go without it for days, or weeks and definitely wont lose sleep over it.

It's a tool. It's not bad. It's not good. It's how you use it. It can be a godsend for shy people to expand their horizon. To make friends that they would have no hope of meeting. Around the corner or around the world. But in the hands of bad malicious people it can ruin lives. As with any tool, it's performance is dependent on the person using it. Unfortunately, the fuckwits can spoil the experience for others. And we all know there are fuckwits in here. The challenge is reconising them........ And hopefully not organising a play meet with them.

It amuses me - the characters and topics. but i ccan go without it for days, or weeks and definitely wont lose sleep over it. - am sick to death of the endless food, pets and baby/toddler pics on bookface.Puhleeeeeeze - stop it.I don't wish to de-friend anyone but have switched off some people's "feeds" (I think that's what it's called) so that they are still on my friends list but I'm no longer seeing their pics/posts.My family has its own closed group which is handy. One of my cousins set that up.Otherwise I just get on there to have a look at what's happening within another couple of closed groups I'm on such as the supporter group for my AFL club.Another group of friends also always uses bookface for messaging each other to organise our get togethers for lunch/dinner so I keep an eye out for those messages as I get told off if I miss one or don't answer it promptly enough, lol.....so now I spend 20 minutes per week on bookface instead of only 10 mins.LMAO.

Summer, I hadn't heard of that but will be checking it out. Along the same lines, is there something similar that will replace the Kardashians & Jenners?
