They totally freak me out... I can't bear to look at them in real life, in a documentary, in a picture. In my version of Room 101 (George Orwell - 1984), the cage going over my face would have spiders in it instead of rats, and I would die from fear before I could betray anyone. Almost having a panic attack just thinking about it :/ But other than that, great topic Miss Unicorn. Will be interesting to read what scares the crap out of other people :)

Just talked about this with a friend a few hours ago. Spiders and clowns both mentioned.I developed a phobia of spiders which I am, successfully?trying to conquer. After the birth th of my son I developed a fear of heightS which, for the most part I have gotten over. I look in the mirror and have a fear of being skinny.........don't think I'll get over that!!!

For me, not the pool or a bath, but the ocean.... The thought of not being able to take a breath makes a line of sweat appear on my top lip ... Not to mention not knowing what's under your feet when wading out.... Other than the sand .... Creepy!!

Mine is heights too, but planes don't bother me. Standing on the edge of something, though, with nothing to stop me falling - shudder. I'm usually ok if there is a balcony or railing, and I'm mostly fine with looking out the windows of tall buildings, but open spaces up high are the stuff of nightmares for me. Quite literally in fact - they prompt many nights following filled with sleeps of terror.

It was also heights, but working in a power station for 7 years, having to do walk downs every second day, level ten become a beautiful get away and the view from up there is spectacular. But still can't let go of the dark, scares the heck out of me, there is always a light on in my house..... 💋

on my sister in law's FB of the clown crab spider because she's afraid of spiders and clowns and of course I'm an asshole. And because spiders and clowns aren't scary enough on their own. My fear, well...My girlfriend and I were looking for a movie to watch. I suggested paranormal activity. She said "No I'm afraid of ghosts, let's watch The notebook". I was like "No way! I can't watch that I'm afraid of commitment." Also cockroaches. Seriously fuck cockroaches. - Posted from rhpmobile

Apparently a fear of spiders is genetic, dating back thousands of years. Its a survival mechanism .I have a fear of sharks,I rarely go in the sea...but insects.including spiders don't worry me xxFreya

I dont like creepy crawlies but if I have to deal with them I can overcome my fear. Clowns I dont like. But I will become a CRAZY, wild person if you cover me with a blanket, Im terrified of being suffocated just the thought turns my tummy. Don't make me enter a small space either. I hate small tents. - Posted from rhpmobile

    1. Sharks. I have worked out an arrangement with sharks - I don't go into the ocean, and they don't come into my lounge room. So far that's working out fine; and 2. Waking up without my penis.

Mice and rats, huge phobia, quite a struggle trying to get through life frightened of mice, i literally can't be in a house with mice, will jump out a window, anything it takes to avoid being anywhere near them. I'd rather snakes than mice any day, but not the really deadly ones. But my fear of mice started as a young child and became acute, i don't know how it started but i remember lifting something up off the bed when i was a kid and a huge mouse ran out, i thought it was a rat, ran off screaming, earliest memory and nothing has changed, i can't even look at pictures without feeling sick. Spiders don't worry me, i swim in the ocean so could end up in the jaws of a shark, yet i'm terrified of mice, go figure - Posted from rhpmobile

A phobia is an irrational fear, fear of things that can kill you sounds perfectly rational to me. So before I reveal my phobia I need to know, can dentists kill you? - Posted from rhpmobile

SNAKES- make me (Mrs) nauseous, only as I have had a few close encounters with eastern brown snakes & black snakes. I don't mind a trouser snake or two though!!! Confined spaces- Mr Forus doesn't like. We have no fear of clowns, but do remember that clown off Poltergeist was a little freaky & Chucky off Child's Play!

song popped into my head when I saw this but I do like spiders (Huntsmen) and snakes. Not overly fond of someone grabbing me around the front of the throat as it doesn't take much pressure there to make me pass out and one day it may end up permanent. I have social anxiety and it stopped me from attending my work's Christmas party last year as I just couldn't walk into the pub where it was held as there were people everywhere and I couldn't see anyone from my crew. Strangely enough I can walk into a pub where I don't know anyone if there aren't too many people there. I went to one social gathering for my age group in town and bugger the butterflies in one's stomach, I'm sure I had wedge tail eagles! Took me about 10 minutes deep breathing to go in the door and join the group. They didn't disappoint as when I raised a differing opinion to a few of them on a subject they put shit on my ideas, not constructive debate. I've never been back.

Both human and slithering types... Reptiles because the bludgers hide in the grass and you never know where they are.. And the human type because some low life's are as low as a snakes belly...

Quoting 'Countrychic1962' song popped into my head when I saw this but I do like spiders (Huntsmen) and snakes. They didn't disappoint as when I raised a differing opinion to a few of them on a subject they put shit on my ideas, not constructive debate. I've never been back. my advice would be to strut in, head held high, to the next gathering, and again raise a differing opinion, if it is your opinion and you believe in it, why should you be one of the pack? What you said has impressed me more than anything I've read on this forum since I've been on the site. I like people who have a mind of their own, don't be afraid of that or feel like you don't have a place within these situations. I've never ran with the pack, and never will, absolutely respect your integrity

... "and that ain't what it takes to love me... like I want you to." Haha love the duet by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, CountryChic..Forumguy, just goes to show sticks and stones can do more than break bones..And Patchwork, that sucks, funnily I can fly in my dreams. I could go on about this particular phobia but will stick to saying all the pics I have from my recent flights are of the wing of the plane, on the ground! Man, I had good seats for the views! Sitting in a tin can with windows. Peachy ;-)
