I have never seen this particular chick flick.....but i do know its a real pleaser amongst the Ladies. Mrs Nev has never seen it either, apparently... as it came up in discussion the other day, and i suggested that perhaps she should...because she maybe the only female who hasn't.So i am just a little bit curious as well as to what it is with this movie!Cheers Nev

I'm not trying to be provocative but... I HATE "The Notebook"" ! It's too slow and emotional for me. I like fast, action movies. If I want romance I watch James Bond ! I think you will find us woman are varied, we come in all shapes and sizes and with various likes in movies. xxx Ms Saturn

Thank you K oops nearly gave you away... and Saturn, i would love to know what your christian name is, maybe one day she will tell me! I just think it is oh special when a woman on here (the big bad internet) will let you that lil bit closer into her reality!..i had written a whloe lot more, trust me.....but was going where i perhaps shouldn't........and every woman is oh so special in her own right. so leaving it alone for now!Cheers Nev....thanking the girls for being individuals.....kisses!

OOOhhh, my favourite movie genre, CHICK FLICKS!!!!!!!!! I must admit I did enjoy the notebook (enough to buy the dvd,,lol). It's gotta be in my favourite top 10. I also admit to using chick flicks, (The Sweetest Thing, 10 things I hate about you, how to loose a man in 10 day's & the list goes on & on & on ) as a way to drive all male members of the household out of the house. For some reason if I get out a box of tissues , box of chockies & a dvd they all feel a great need to go & grunt at their cars or mow the lawn. GREAT WAY TO GET A BIT OF PIECE & QUIET,,

Sometimes women just like an impossibly romantic tragic love story that spans a lifetime... Most girls grow up dreaming of having that... the fairybook romance, true love overcoming all obstacles, the gorgeous brooding man who'll love them forever and ever and ever no matter what... It's fantasy, pure and simple... Don't some guys fantasize about becoming rock stars with millions of screaming fans? It's the same thing... bears little or no resemblance to our actual lives... but the dream lives on lol :PI would never watch this film with a guy.... it would ruin the fantasy.... I watch it with my sister, a bottle of wine and lots and lots of tissues... there has sometimes been sobbing lol and it's lovely to have someone beside you sobbing too :P

Total tear jerker!!!! I agree entirely with Sophie - this movie absolutely rocks cos we really do want to believe that there's one special person out there who would do anything for us - even if we were deteriorating in a nursing home. Plus Ryan Gosling and Amy Adams are COMPLETE HOTTIES. Having a good cry can be really good for you sometimes. X

First of all SpankRock. If you want to know about it.. WATCH THE DAMN MOVIE.Second of all. If a guy likes the movie.. HE ISNT LYING. he just likes it.Now...I've seen the movie and I thought it was well made. The the story actually moved me concerning the situation between the fictional characters.I myself would feel the same if i was in HIS shoes. Imagine the woman you love so much, have no friggin idea who you are... that would cause so much pain aye? Now, Chick flicks aint that bad. There's heaps of good stories in it to watch. So take it like a man and watch the fookn thing :P

And u like the film? congrats......feel free to return ur bro-hood membership card back to HQ asap....u can prob remove ur testicles and return them too cos they have obviously stopped working. Thx.

I have been ducking this particular axe ever since the damn movie was released. to this day I haven't seen it. on the other hand, I was literally tied down and forced to watch "My sisters keeper" the other day, and if you had've been here, you'd have seen a 30 year old sojer boy bawling like he'd just been kicked in the nadgers. It took all the fun out of being all tied up. cheers, A

While I did enjoy the Notebook I found PS I Love You far sadder... now that's romance! Pretty much cried from start to finish!!! And while I din't cry in August Rush it is a bloody brilliant movie too Just my opinion :) Mrs Sassy

I thought the book was much better....although the movie was good. The appeal is love overcoming the odds...right til the end.Nicholas Sparks writes the best romantic novels....tear jerkers for sure....but gives a person hope that true love really does exist...even when it looks like all hope is lost. And really...if you leave your attitudes at the door and just enjoy them for what they are....Im sure most people with hope and a heart would find them enjoyable. And yes Spank....even men can enjoy this genre....and keep their fully working testicles!! Amazing huh??Just like women can enjoy shoot-em-up movies without growing a set!Just my opinion...BJxxx

I think someone should be questioning your manhood spankrock. Rachel McAdams is fucking hot. She alone should have been enough to hold your attention for two hours. I loved the movie!!! The story kept reminding me of my own relationship with "the one that got away". Even after 10 years of marriage, I still couldn't stop thinking about this ex girlfriend. Our circumstances were similar to those in the film (her very wealthy disapproving father etc). I have since divorced, and reunited with my old flame, and we've now been together for 3 years. I usually hate chick flicks, and had resisted seeing the notebook for a long time (even despite badgering from the ex wife). My only complaint, although I thought it was a brilliant movie, is that I didn't get to see Rachel McAdams naked.

Quoting 'Gravity_Of_Love'All Brawns and no Brains..eh? SpankRock? Mate. Spankkrock is one of the smartest guys around here. You've missed the point Sparty. I've been reading what you have had to say here and I agree with Spankkrock. We demand that you hand in your testicles within 7 days without further notice. :p Hugs Stalky

i just sumbled upon this again....sorry Spartanas....i was like totally busy with stuff IRL. zomg. And thanks for watching my back Stalky ;) u just scored 5 trillion bro-points. As for the question, am I = brawn > brains....well i'd hypothesise not. Really im not very brawny, and well i guess that doesn't make me brainy either, but i'd say it'd prob win on a ratio of roughly 2:1 As for this whole thread....it wasn't meant to be a Rotten Tomatoes entry on The Notebook....It was rather a poor attempt at a light-hearted, taking-the-piss approach to this crazy place as apposed to....."Professional women who can squirt with 2 midgets inside them while dogging at the local KFC" et al So i guess, Spartanas, we really aren't too different afterall, cos sometimes i just wanna talk about chick-flicks too. xoxo

haven't seen it, refuse to see it. same with some vampire flick that apparently a lot of ladies are going gaga over.give me a good wet your pants horror any day over a soppy chick flick. especially the japanese variety. or happiness by todd solondz, one of my favourite films.though i must admit i enjoyed bridget jones.
