The Perfect Date Movie(s)

July 09 2015

I have just joined a Vanilla Dating Site a couple asked me to go to the movies with them on the first date! Sweet. I thought a drink would be more appropriate but ok, I suppose this is the vanilla way. I was given the option to choose any movie on my first date. Geez. The last time I had a movie date as a first date was in university days, which was a long time ago. I had a look at the current list of movies out and all I could think o f is 'MAGIC MIKE XXL'. I suppose that is out of the question? Lol. My question is that if you did agree to a movie date, what movie would you want to watch (old or new)? and why? Popcorn is on the house. Mine is 'The Notebook' - A test on the man's patience and sensitivity. If he sheds a tear or two, brownie points for him.'Bourne Identity' - any one of the Matt Damon films. I just love him tussling and the crooked smile'Up' and 'The Lion King'- just the most touching animated films'Taken 1 and 2' - Liam Neeson - say no more'The English Patient' - See notes on the Notebook. Lol Your turn...

A vanilla dating site where a couple takes a single girl on a date? What is this magical place??

She meant a couple of guys. Or it would indeed be a very liberal Vanilla site! Id compromise.....a guys typical action movie, as long as it had Jason Statham in one of the lead roles

I don't think that is the norm at all in vanilla land - not in my experience. Sitting in the dark with someone you barely know, is only fun if it's a non-vanilla date, in a non-vanilla dark place. I cry too often in movies, so I couldn't go to a movie I'd normal like to see - tears are never good on a first date. So something light and funny - at least come out smiling. I'd say screw the movie, and lets go see some stand up comedy.

is that you can't talk to get to know someone.... It's just they're lacking confidence and are suggesting the typical Hollywood made date night...which is cool for some if it works for them.... But... The question was about movies...I'd see some action movies like mad max, terminator genesis....or sci fi movies like the matrix trilogy or van helsing, underworld, etc - Posted from rhpmobile

I'm not a big movie buff, I need something else to keep my mind occupied if the movie is slow. Maybe a couple? One on either side. LOL.Some of the movies I have been to the cinemas to see include... Star Wars, Jurassic Park & Reign of Fire. All big, loud and busy. .Now the drive ins, there are still some around... :-Peachy

I'd never go see a movie on a first date, vanilla or not. How are you supposed to get to know each other when you have to sit in silence for two hours? I never got that. If I must suggest a movie: Master and Commander. My date and I were so bored we had sex in the cinema, left halfway through the show and then had sex again. ;-)

that a movie isn't a good first date activity and I don't think it's necessarily a vanilla thing. I'd be suggesting something else that actually allows for talking / interacting and getting to know each other, but that's just me. But anyway, for the movie choice I think I'll go with The Lost Boys. It's got a bit of everything...comedy, action, horror, romance, great soundtrack, and of course, Nanook the dog

A movie? Soooooooo...these people want to get to know you.... and they go about that by sitting in a dark room with 1000 other people where nobody talks to each other because you're all distracted by a movie? I guess that could work LOL DG

If you're after a movie, you're kind of limited to whats showing rather than your top-pick...... so go for a comedy... get the happy endorphins going.

If they don't cry at the new Pixar, don't go home with them. They are obviously sociopaths, and cannot be trusted.

I had a huge crush on Corey Feldman when I was a kid Dream a Little Dream is another good one of theirs...probably not for a first date though (if you had to watch a movie for a first date).

Hey Lily ... .....'Taken' and 'the Bournes' do ft your profile .... but the English Patient and the Notebook ... your a romantic soft centre?? I had you down for ... Kill Bill II .... cut em down, carve em up, eat their brains from a warm half skull ?? moi ...for a vanilla date ? ... god do i have to? ... without snoring ? ... well if I must, something psychological thriller or adrenalin charged that requires a big debriefing session afterwards (preferably her briefs).... a movie that leaves you weak and numb afterwards ........ ' the deer hunter' ..... are you sure that I cannot take them to see ... 'Debbie Does Dalwallinu' (rural WA .. as Dallas has been done to death)

I would never go to the movies on a first date (thanks Meander)I also wouldn't go to the movies on a second, third, fourth or fifth date either. Maybe if it was date night in an actual relationship, but not 'dating' I'll be off to see some stand-up comedy with HennaJay instead...

But what I WOULD do on a first, second, third, fourth, or fifth date is... Take someone on a picnic. At night. Somewhere grassy. And reasonably quiet. And bring a little battery powered portable dvd player along...so we can snuggle and watch something all cosy like. And we can talk. And eat chicken salad (with no Mayo!!!). And share skittles. And drink wine. And look at the stars... *thinks* Later folks! I've gotta go take me out on a date!! (Oh. And the movie will be Bad Boys II. Funny, and full of action...)

Are you forgetting the masterpiece of cinema that was Licence to Drive? or, for a compare and contrast on how heather Graham's tits have changed over the years, I suggest Killing Me Softly.

It's got a bit of everything...comedy, action, horror, romance, great soundtrack, and of course, Nanook the dog Man, you can't forget the grandfather and his veiled drug references... Hm. Good date movies? Well, it all depends on who you're going to see it with now doesn't it? 5. Chocolat - Nothing like getting a woman a little steamed up with some Johnny Depp 4. 10 Things I Hate About You - Young Heath Ledger, Kirsten Dunst, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a modern take of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew 3. Star Wars - Similar to lily's use of The Notebook as a test of a man's patience, this one's good for testing a woman's enjoyment of sci-fi/fantasy - bonus points if she suggests it ;) (Serenity and/or The Lord of the Rings can also be used as more recent substitutes for this.) 2. Say Anything - John Cusack. Standing outside your house. With a boom box. Playing Peter Gabriel. And one of the best lines about a break up anywhere: "I gave her my heart. She gave me a pen!" 1. The Thomas Crown Affair - No, no - not the Pierce Brosnan one. Yes, he's hot. But, not that one. The original one. With the suave Steve McQueen. And smouldering, smart Faye Dunawaye. There is a chess game in the middle of this movie so hot that the film practically melts. The movie is intelligent, sexy, witty, and with a poignant ending. So good.

I have been actually asked to go to the movies by a couple of guys, separately of course. Mind you i have not accepted their offers. I thought that it was really sweet, almost 'old fashioned'. I just realised that these men just got out of a long term relationship and ae new in the scene so I am taking it easy on them. Happy to oblige as it could be fun. The last time I did that was when I was at university and my date then asked me to go to the movies with him, as his date. we had something to bite, Pizza and coke I think. I believe we saw 'Back to the future 2'. I was a young gal then. very proper and innocent. Lol. If the men are shy (not necessarily insecure) and they want to watch a movie and I feel like watching a movie, I will. No judgment on them. Because we can have coffee and supper afterwards and then chat. What is wrong with that? We all do what we feel is right for us, to each his own? Now I want extra butter on the popcorn. Yum... The Terminator film suggestion seem to be a good one. Thanks for suggesting.

Could not think of anything worse for a first date. In fact I have zero interest in movies so even if it where a long term relationship I would not go. What a waste of an hour and a half.

Well, firstly if it was my choice - I would pick a movie I love. Use it as a little test for compatibility. I love movies which overwhelm you with beauty. Big movie fan. - Inside John Malkovich (1999)- Les Lyonnais (2011)- Her (2013)- Locke (2014) OH and the worst movie to watch with someone of interest, - Blue Valentine (2010) Great film, but it's guaranteed to destroy any relationship.

Lol 3. So good. yep the chess game scene is one of the most sexy scenes ever. sooo suggestive play on the bishop. type of movie that could easily get me hot under the collar... maybe for the 3rd date? Lol.
