Is the Dali Lama Super Foxxxy? "Some cause happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go." Oscar W. I am like a circus monkey. I feel happiest when I am not being poked with a stick to perform. I value finding the quiet peaceful spaces that remain somewhere in my head. Work... we were never meant to work... it has become a thing we must do, for the sake of doing it. There is no time left for philosophy or art.... we are all too busy producing things.... most of us are not even producing useful things... bits of paper with writing on them that get stored in large archive boxes and then discard after seven years... or ten.. or some other statutory limitation.... work. Work? When did it become a thing in its own right, that we all must do? HugsGazpacho HugsGazpacho

Expect that we will always be happy?..why can two people have similar experiences and yet process them so differently?....I think it is all about your attitude.... How you choose to live your 'life...the question is,am I content with enough or do I think about the "if only"...if only I had more,if only I could find "the one''.....the truth is that the only one who can make us happy is ourselves happiness comes from an acceptance of who and what we are....I met a very wise Tibetan Lama who said that Westerners had amazing karma, that we have so much compared to the rest of the world but we don't seem to have the karma to enjoy it......I think that I have had a fortunate life....and I am mostly content with what I have.....as for happiness I prefer contentment:-) xx Q

3 years ago I was happily pursuing my adventurous dream of building and riding my bike around the top end, content that I was the centre of my universe. 2 years ago I was in the happy honeymoon of relationship bliss. Could it get any better than this? 4 months ago my ex formally ended it. Nothing broken, but nothing being built either. I haven't forgotten what it's like to be happy For myself and By myself...Ironically, that was probably what made me attractive and appealing at the time : )Give me a little more time and I'll be back at the top of my game as a slightly different characterthan 3 years ago..you can't beat life experience..I look outward more, with less of the tunnel vision of before, that's certain. My state of happiness has been a wave that's reached a trough, but is on the rise again!

Like the tides going in and out but less predictable, I think there is to much pressure in western society to be constantly 'yayyyy happy'. Being happy is state of mind yet more. A more balanced deep seated contentment knowing I have done my best and cared for others plus appreciate what is around me, yes stop and smell a flower, hear the ocean and listen to the sound of rain. To me this is happiness Foxxy and yes I have it and appreciate it very much. ******Gazpacho**** I AM MOST happy when I AM being poked!!!!!! Lol ;)))

Good timing Super Foxxxy this question has been on my a lot of late...it's now two weeks I've been out of work obviously I'm not happy Qefenta 2 you're right onto it contentment is something easier to attain but it is not the same as happiness. Personally I am grateful to have known true happiness at least once in my life it was quite a revelation as I sat back under the stars after a late shift finish, beer in hand I looked at the stars looking at me and realised that for the first time in my life I was happy with my lot and nothing else was needed for me to be happy it didn't last as I suffered an employment threatening injury and that was that...but life is what you make of it and I'm (relatively) happy to find a silver lining in a dark cloud.I've got a lot to be grateful for and that's what really matters. I look forward to hearing ow others see the matter of HAPPINESS...

We work long hours on shifts at work, our boss's missus is a spiteful jerk, long story short, personal reasons put all fluffed up on a letter head, bullshit to try force us out. Nothing we have done wrong, just standing by the truth of things, over gossip and nasty lies. Gone as far to taking shifts away from us to hurt our life financially and forced us broke. On principals alone we stand here broke until we get to the bottom of things. We stand together because we are in love and nothing this world can take that away, so broke, ripped off and under-payed, for some greedy power hungry sucker, karma always sets the ways and patience to it all is what to trust as the pieces of the puzzle come together. We are happy today because nothing else really matters, if all we have is our love, then we could have nothing materialistic and still feel free, for that power we share is unconditional to acts entrepreneurial lost souls have no effect to our love. Proven over time and time again, this our love it's true, it's all we need. (pretty fckn happy about that) Mado Tara xx

Im lucky, because at this point in my life I am extremely happy. I think its also about acceptance, that things will go wrong, people will let you down, things wont always go the way that you want them to, but if you accept that, smile and move on, you will be pretty happy most of the time. I have a loving child, happy, large as life friends and a close family, and thats all I need to be this blissfully happy! Oh...um, maybe Harry Kewell for a night, but then, I will just have to accept that that aint going to happen

Happiness is absolutely a state of mind. Life isn't always fair, bad things happen to good people, as well as the other way around. Yet this week I saw someone who received a latte instead of a cappuccino throw a fit, but the young woman with cancer be genuinely content. “Choose the positive. You have choice, you are master of your attitude, choose the positive, the constructive. Optimism is a faith that leads to success.” -Bruce Lee-

I was sad for a long while; fed up with being poorly and I let it consume me. A wise lady reminded me that it's one crappy thing out of a whole lot of truly awesome things and I should choose which parts I let define who I am and who other people see. She was right. So I woke up the next day a happier person....the only thing that had changed was my perspective. Now, I try to remember that when I have a shitty day or start to feel sorry for myself. So yeah, I'm happy enough! Kisses, Jak (Mrs) - Posted from rhpmobile

I occasionally have really down days but sometimes it's me being self indulgent really. I am always aware of how incredibly lucky I am. My life is good, I live in a safe country, I can do most things I want,I have good health and I had a good if some what over protective childhood. There are so many people in the world that can't say that. I am thankful for my life, it is pretty awesome. I think happiness is a state of mind. Some people always see the negative, some people always see the positive. I can see the negative in situations sometimes but I know that at the end of the day they often aren't that important. I don't am quite good at not worrying about things I can't change... it's a waste of energy.

Now all the masters knows that you need the glow, You need the glow, the glow to grow. If you love to live, you live to love, Hah, you got to move to the upper level. Cos When you got the glow, there aint no stopping, what you want to do. hah, oh. To reach that upper level, your mind, body and soul must be one. It's a sacrifice, it takes hard work, It's a way of life. When you got the glow, you feel the one, (You feel the one) When you got the glow, Your body's gold, (Your body's gold) So don't let go, of the power of elevation. (Power) (Talk about that glow) Shine on, Shine on, Shine on, shine on, Get the glow, Get the glow, Get the glow, grow. Everybody knows that you need the glow, You need the glow, the glow to grow. And if you love to live, you live the life the way you love, The love you take the gift. Cos when you got the glow, you see it on your face, You feel it in your head, people understand, That you've got the glow, and they're beware, Cos the power's there when you got the glow. (shine on) (shine on) (Shine on) (shine on) ((Shine on)) Well, when you reach that upper level, Your mind body and soul will be one. Hah! It's a sacrifice, it takes hard work, It's a way of life. When you got the glow, you feel the one, When you got the glow, Your body's gold, So don't let go, of the power of elevation. (Talk about the glow, the glow) Cos when you got the glow, when you got the glow, (When you got the glow) Everybody know and I'm friend and foe, They'll all beware, they'll all beware, (When you got the glow) Cos they know that you got the fire there. When you got the glow, when you got the glow, (When you got the glow) They'll all beware, they'll all beware. Cos they know, they know, they know, they know, they know (When you got the glow) They know you got the glow, the glow to grow.

that makes me happy. I don't have to work anymore and that makes me happy I can create art and write and that makes me happy. I have a great capacity to love others, and to give and that makes me happy. It is like the tide , it goes out and in again, we cannot hold back the tide we just have to be patient and wait for its return. you cannot hold it, it will elude you at times in stress and illness poverty and mental health issues. but you can if your smart, make it like a cake with all the ingredients that create a happy life.

"Let one live alone and do no evil, like an elephant in the elephant forest." That's my philosophy. I seek a balance in life and try to keep more doors open than the ones I close. So long as I can chase a new idea then I am happy. - Posted from rhpmobile

I used to be happy..I thought I was happy...my happiness always came from taking care of everyone else....I realised yesterday I feel guilty somehow for feeling any happiness. I used to walk with my head held high smiling at everyone who passed and have been stopped many times by people who just commented how my smile brightened their day....but I noticed yesterday that I know walk with my face pointing towards the ground avoiding eye contact and there is a permanent frown of some sort on my face. I have a list now not one to make me happy but one that I just have to cross some things off........hopefully it wont take me too long. I've had a little bit too much to drink tonight also becoming a bad habit and its midnight and I am going to go fishing...this will be interesting, and dark.

Quoting 'Cest_la_viebaby' I used to be happy..I thought I was happy...my happiness always came from taking care of everyone else....I realised yesterday I feel guilty somehow for feeling any happiness. I understand and can relate to exactly what you are saying. I used to be exactly like this ..I was a rescuer! The more I took care of others the more I felt I had control. I used it to calm me and my hide my deep dark fears..(if that makes sense) ?? In the mean time I neglected me, my mind, my body and soul. I was, what one would call a co-defendant and I too felt that same guilt of happiness. Then one day, I stopped and relised this behavior was preventing others from from reaching true happiness. It was so unhealthy for my soul as I was truly so unhappy . Once I stopped that behavior my whole world turned around and that was when I discovered my true beautiful inner ME! I have faith in you Cest, that in the near future you can walk down the street holding your head held high with that beautiful smile. :) Foxy XX

Quoting 'LadyTuscan' make it like a cake with all the ingredients that create a happy life. Great way of describing the vast array of advice that is out there... you could save a million trees but summarising most self help books :) Sadness ain't so bad, so long as it isn't paralysing... worse is numbness. I'm still gathering ingredients for my cake, but luckily you don't have to wait until it's fully cooked.

comes from being still here.I find after you see and realize we are only on borrowed time you live life more concious. Happiness for me is ME....I had to look at me first.... am i unstressed...am I ok with what I have....am I ok with how I look....am I ok with what I can do. When all these answers are ending with a YES....I think I am happy.Yes I cry and yes I feel let down sometimes, however it cant make me so unhappy that I am running around being nasty to people. We work more and much more stressful....most jobs demand more an more performance...we have to feed the greedy CEOs of big companies....however that's the world we living in. And we cant complain because we are feeding them with our hunger for more.We are driven always driven and never satisfied and consequently never happy. So to get out of it, the only thing we can do is sit back, look at our life and situation and make a concious decision. Do I have to do all this or do I want to do all this. And what ever is the answer, we have to accept.Happiness for me is being in my little pink world where everybody loves and is pure love, no demanding anything no tit for tat. Just a little world where I do what I am happy to do.When people come to my home with an open loving attitude and leave and feel calm and happy and uplifted I am happy.I am not driven any more, there is more to life then performance.Me smiling most of the time.

I am mostly happy. I have great kids, a wonderful family and very good friends; some more significant than others and each fulfil different needs in my life. I have a reasonable balance of work and recreation and although I love my work I find that when the scales are tipped and I'm overworked and stressed or if I'm going through a crisis then it's easy to lean toward that negative side. I always try to look for the silver lining and I find that restores the balance, but damn, why is it so hard to find sometimes? I often have bad days and have endured long periods of incredible sadness but that just makes the happy times even happier. So in my opinion, the feeling of happiness would largely depend on the individual and what level of unhappiness they have to measure it by.

Sometimes I feel like I'm on a roller coaster. Up one day, down the next day. I find that if someone close to me is unhappy it affects how I feel too. If one of my children is unhappy I feel it. There are always things that I want more of. More friends, more love, more time, and more inner peace. I love the Serenity Prayer and think of it often, not from a religious view but from a life view : God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time ........

When I was a child, my father lost his international business, went from being a multi millionaire to a penniless divorced father of 5.... Yet the joy he showed in life was awe inspiring....... It was a great lesson in life that stayed with me when the same thing happened to my husband, not at such a big level, but we lost everything we had worked 20 years to achieve..... Because of my early life lesson, I was able to look at it all and think "it is only material items we have lost". I was able to help my husband and children see what true happiness is!!!! Your family, your friends, your love and your trust............. From this occurring, we have become happier within ourselves and see and find happiness around us :)

Do we sometimes forget about the people around us in our search? I saw this posted on FB and thought I would share it with you all. "Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar. Suddenly the speaker stopped and decided to do a group activity. He started giving each one a balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room. Now these delegates were let in that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written, within 5 minutes. Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos. At the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon. Now each one was asked to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Within minutes everyone had their own balloon. The speaker began— exactly this is happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is. Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness; you will get your own happiness. And this is the purpose of human life." I think the last paragraph sums it up.

i find this topic so challenging because, I guess, I have spent much of my life trying to define what happiness is and means to me.. I had some success last year as I realised that it is about my expectations and was never to be found in a relationship or via some other person. I am most content when I am riding my bike and going through some twisty roads, and all my focus is on the bike, its position on the road, and my position on the bike along with the throttle position and the gear selection - all of me is totally given over to the exercise, and no other thoughts interrupt my thinking. I have also come to understand that I don't know what romance and love is in the context of a partner - but the love I have for my son has grown exponentially - the love i feel for my 18 year old son is immense and overwhelming. Having my own time is another way that, I think, I am trying to find happiness - reading a good book of my choice, i.e., not work related, and watching a movie that engages my mind and enables freedom from disruptive thoughts has been beautiful for me. Another key finding is doing what I like and surrounding myself with colours and furniture of my choice - the couch, chair, bed, pictures on the wall, style of bookcase, colour towels, style of plate, cutlery etc. keeping my grocery cupboard in my way with the my food choices.. this is part of defining who I am through my eyes and not 'as defined by a significant other'. I am a reader of philosophy books by Alain de Botton, who has thought and written extensively on the subject of happiness along with many other real life modern dilemmas.

Happiness and unhappiness are two sides of the same coin. Happiness can not exist without unhappiness, and vice-versa. I would say one is both the cause and the consequence of the other. You need unhappy moments to fully appreciate the happy ones, and you need happy moments for understanding how satisfying can be going through unhappy periods. Moon appears cyclically, sun appears cyclical, seasons are cyclical, energy and matter are cyclical. Not surprisingly, life is cyclical. An healthy life has a balance of happy and unhappy moments. Discovering how to make each moment of my life worthwhile, is for me the deepest source of happiness. Hope it does make sense?
