A broad question Cheekyarses ... Children compete for their Parent's attention & there are many other normal , natural examples . If I desperately craved someone's attention & affection I would pull out all the stops to get what I want (for a little while) . That being said , I wouldn't enter into a competition with someone else for the prize of another's affection . I'm not interested in someone who would put themselves on a pedestal and give themselves as a prize . It's nothing but a Game . I'm searching for Equals , not self-perceived people from a Higher Realm . If I find an Equal , then I will put in the effort to get their attention ;)- Posted from rhpmobile

If I have to compete for his attention then he is not that into me, therefore I am not going to hang around making a fool of myself. Especially as that could mean I am missing the guy that is into me

I just walk away. I'm not into pushing or forcing something that's not happening naturally. Not into playing second fiddle either. That said, I haven't minded if my lovers have other lovers. I just don't particularly want it to be in my face (or newsfeed) too much.

I catch the person's attention and show them I'm available and interested. If that is not enough, I keep walking.

I had a GF who unbeknown to me broken off with her BF to be with me... It was not till the BF fronted me that I knew anything about it. ? I suddenIy found myself in this 3 way tussle I wanted no part of , so I told the girl to deal with it . There was no way I was going to compete for her attention the way she would have liked.. I would rather walk than do that.. Turned out she made the break then phoned me...

If I am with a man and he is easily distracted by another women,I would be more than happy to let him go.I would gather he was just "not that into me" or a jerk who was lead by his dick and not his heart. Why would I want someone like that around?

I don't think its wrong to compete for something you really wantthat is if you really want itas nothing that good comes easy and you don't want to be left thinking 'perhaps I could have tried harder...' at the end of the day if you don't have what you wantBUT for me affection, attention, love & loyalty are all earned and then given and mutually shared

Old and impatient for silly little boy games. I'm with Ms D on this one. I let a guy know I'm interested, if he doesn't follow through, I will not chase, I'll just move on. Too many fishes in the sea to meet, you may not connect to most, but it's better than sitting around waiting for something that will never happen.

you pull out all the stops, throw yourself repeatedly and then get what you want, only to realise once you have it that you actually dont really like that person that much lol!!! I am a firm believer of the quote "He's just not that into you" .......... to me if a bloke I might be interested in doesnt return the mutual interest in meeting then I just move on. Like someone else said in a previous reponse why stick around and throw yourself at someone who clearly isnt interested and make a fool of yourself, when there is probably a really nice guy who would like to meet you but being overlooked.

who thinks that someone who wants you to compete for their affection would actually be worth competing for?If there is, I wanna know about it. Maybe you just love competition? Maybe you have some kind of worthiness thing you need to prove to yourself? Maybe you like to pretend to be some kind of wild animal in a darwinist fantasy? Not judging, I'm genuinely curious. Thanks

I put an effort in for a while, yes I admit that. But when it is only one sided I stop. Its really not worth my effort and time. Its first a bit of fun and excites me, however when nothing comes back, I say bye.I am not a person on a string, should I feel I am on one, I cut it. I have always a scissors with me. I am not competing with anybody this takes to much energy away from more important things.

...what i am competing against...if it's work, study, busy life...and i really want someone...i will try as hard as i can, to get what i want...if it's against other women....no, not anymore..i would have/did when i was in my late teens/early twenties..but nowadays i think i would be on the same opinion as many others on here...if he wants me, i shouldn't have to compete!....and if i do have to compete...then "he's not into me"...i have learnt by now, that you can't make someone want you...they do or they don't...i am happy to give someone an ego boost...we all need some from time to time...but if i have to parade, like a clown...just to be chosen over someone else...nah..she can have him!

A bit of competition is a good thing as it keeps you alive but there is a cut off limit. The old saying no use banging your head on a brick wall and besides the chances are its there loss. Flirting aside I have spent my life dealing with customers and people are people---the good the bad the ugly. LOL

I love the idea of a primal competition for a woman's attention. However if she is not into me why bother.

A performing seal. I agree there is competition both on site and in life to a degree, but I am no longer prepared to be the loudest voice in the room screaming 'pick me, pick me!' That sort of thing (I believe) devalues me as well as the other party. I have nothing to hide, and I put myself out there. If that's not good enough, then so be it - there's always someone that wants me for me, rather than feeling like a fluffy toy in a carnival sideshow given as a prize. No-one's worth that, and I refuse to entertain the concept.

Nothing wrong with a little competetion and for someone to prove they are actually interested. However if it is to your detriment and the onus is constantly on you to show how interested you are I'd be moving on, especially if the interest returned is aloof or vague. Quid pro quo, it's a two way street.

i think you'd know basically straight away when you meet someone, whether to compete or not-you either click or you don't,no use chasing your tail - plenty of fish in the sea all you need is the right bait

I guess it depends on the courage of your convictions and whether you feel it is worth fighting for? The worst thing that can happen is they say no but i look at it as they are the ones missing out on something special and good things come to good people and idiots are drawn to shit! Cheekyarses you are smoking hot!

-

But the thrill of the hunt is SO much fun, especially when you win the attention of your subject of attention. Just be careful at what level you're playing - when matters of the heart are involved it raises the stakes - but that can be fun too. Hey if you lose it's only pain :-)

I guess it comes down to how much you can live with and how happy (or not) all in the triangle are? I've never been the jealous or competitive type but recently found myself in the situation of sharing a (casual) partner. Not 3-some sharing btw - rather separate nights with lovely lady, but sometimes socially all at the one pub etc. I wasn't super comfy with it as the lady kind of worked it a bit (maybe seeking more attention?). Anyway it was just plain awkward for the other fella (who I met and seemed ok - but not super ok with me being around) and I. Too tricky in the end and although a lovely lady had to stroll as it was just getting to awkward. Couldn't give her the time and constant contact she wanted either. Sigh.. WANTED: friendly, uncomplicated, intelligent, sexy lady with benefits that wishes to pleasured. : )

Quoting 'MissSarahCurious' who thinks that someone who wants you to compete for their affection would actually be worth competing for?If there is, I wanna know about it. Maybe you just love competition? Maybe you have some kind of worthiness thing you need to prove to yourself? Maybe you like to pretend to be some kind of wild animal in a darwinist fantasy? Not judging, I'm genuinely curious. Thanks The vast majority of responses appear to assume that the person whose attention is being competed for initiated and encourages the competition .. in which case the consensus view of "walking away" seems entirely appropriate ..but the OP's question did not state this implicitly and as every guy on this site knows if you won't compete to capture the attention of the one you desire then you will get nowhere and will remain out of their field of vision. Ultimately you are doing it for yourself and if the potential that an observer may think you're 'desperate' or a 'loser' is more important than securing the attention of the one you desire then you either don't want it as much as you think you do or you have some serious confidence issues. True love is unconditional and given without expectations of reciprocity.

As a women. I will not compete for a mans attention. It proves he is most deff not interested in me, so therefore why should I compete? I want someone to want me!! Now, i know this may sound sexist. But I feel as tho men should compete for the women. Show her your genuinely interested. If you try several times, then move on.. - Posted from rhpmobile

If your partner is letting you know you now have to compete for his/her attention, then I would take this as a sign that you are not giving each-other what either of you need? It takes a lot of guts to be true to yourself especially in a relationship. Honesty is best. And to all you lovely ladies out there take heart, most of us blokes have no idea when women are competing for our attention so don't be offended if some lucky bloke doesn't realise how close he was to scoring with a "hottie", as they say "you snooze you lose!"

of male pastimes are invented solely for the purpose of competition which has had obvious payoffs in female interest.Evolution has ensured we have this drive. As to specifically this context - what, there's effort involved? Screw that; get a box of wine, a supply of porn and some video games and you're right for a few days.Maybe if I can be bothered. What would impress her, juggling? Extreme aqueduct maintenance? Freestyle interior decorating? Bring it on, I will destroy you. Just remember to be cool in your victory, in whatever field it may be, like it's no big deal. They'll dig that.
