So, tooting is a compliment? I thought they were just trolling, trying to make me jump so they could laugh at me.

Think about it this way: you see someone hot and want to show your appreciation by tooting or yelling something from the car. She has to appreciate that right? Except you are the 9th person that week to do so. And when you're tooting your horn she doesn't know if you are being appreciative or what. You could have nefarious intentions and she does not know. Does she reapond? What if she responds in the wrong way? Will she then get abuse. You've seen how angry men get on here when they don't get a response to an email. I don't know what on earth makes men think, in this day and age, that it is still acceptable to comment on the bodies of random strangers. Don't be that dude.- Posted from rhpmobile

It could be misinterpreted as an act of aggression by another car, as lately tooting usually used to abuse another motorist, and given the recent state of events road rage is quite prevelant. Some women like it others may not, it is another form of a wolf whistle only louder.

I love it , it seems happy and flirty to me , same as a wolf whistle - god bless building sites, they have made me feel a million bucks some days! Toot and wave or whistle and smile , makes me wiggle when I walk :) ...........yelling out seems to cross the line though " show us your tits" feels threatening in a way , I'm not sure why , same as the guy who tooted, whistled, yelled out , then swerved across traffic , over the island , double parked in Brisbane city and ran over to me , embarrassing, confronting and feels dangerous...........toot and smile - love it ! Might go for a walk today !!!!

...fully programmable digital 'talking horns' on eBay. You can actually record your own voice, use part of your favourite song or the range of over 100 factory installed sounds...I think there's one that does say 'toot toot', the mind boggles at the endless possibilities. I've a rather ostentatious SUV with a license plate holder that reads 'My Other Cars Is Not A Ferrari'...so best to just drive by quietly, admiring the view without drawing any undue attention before they get to know me and understand it's more than just an egoist extension of my penis. Besides, some women think Volvo drivers are boring but all of them appreciate both our on and off-road safety features. No, I'm not a tooter.

I take it more as just a fun way to express their appreciation ?? Flirty ........rather than trying to meet someone or date them etc - I have tooted at guys before :) my motivation was just " fuck me you are HOT " just wanted to let you know that as I zoom on past :)

women carry a weapon (pepper spray) at night when running...We want to feel safe and independent - not startled and the crap frightened out of us. You do know women don't like this at night...yeah????

If it's just an innocent tooty flirt (yes, I did just type that ;) then it makes me smile and feel good on the inside. If it's a truck load of bogans, pants down waving their junk at me, whistling and grunting....not so much.

As I'm power walking along I joke to hubby when I get home that I use it as a gauge as to how well I'm going on my exercise regime..Trouble is one time 3/4s of way into my walk all hot and sweaty hair , I'm sure sticking to my face and all in all looking generally unappealing I had heard a toot of the horn.Thought nothing of it apart from the obligatory look up from my intense concentration of thinking "yay I'm nearly home" , the car pulls over the guy pops out and apologises but reckons he has to tell me how good I look and can he give me his number?!!?!! I wasn't sure whether to laugh in his face at the absurdity of looking good at that stage or to be very wary at fact some stranger just waltzed on up and thought he'd have a crack!!Anyways thanked him for being so nice...dubious but nice and no he couldn't have my number and NO I didn't want his eventually got back on my way. To top it off I strutted in to Mr Sat all sweaty Lady Peacock like and told Mr Sat of my near pickup and he laughed looked at me and said "what...looking like that???"Way to put a girl back in her place!!! so Toot away..just stay firmly in your vehicle!!

Couple of months ago now... went for a late afternoon jog along the highway just as the rush hour peak traffic was hitting, cars had pretty much come to a standstill...shoelace had come undone so hitched my leg up on a wall to tie it up. Heard a ridiculous noise of someone laying on their horn and looked around to see a large, bearded truckie with a big grin on his face. Gave him the pinkie finger with a smile. He proceeded to open his truck door, step out onto the road, and undo his belt and pants. I didn't really see the rest as I started running in the opposite direction..!

If im ever driving a truck without our companies branding on it and I have an off sider we some times look for pretty girls and yell words out at them. The most recent word of the day was "INTERCOURSE!". Yes thats right, don't toot the horn, dont whistle, just yell out INTERCOURSE! So far we have never gotten the finger. That word is doing well. Not a tooter, even to those who are constantly on strike :)I am though, someone who will whisper in your ear if you pull off THAT dress, have sultry eyes, even hotter arse or made me hold my breath when I first saw you...I always pull the finger when one toots at me...sorry family and friends.

That's hilarious, i'd laugh if someone yelled intercourse out at me. As long as the word wasn't offensive, i'd find it funny and have a laugh. Same goes for tooting, it's flattering if there's no offensive words accompanying it. Dida xx

Rude rude rude. Keep it in the pants guys. A lady may give you the horn, but its not right to toot her. What ever happened to a smile.Guess some need that to get attention.
