Travel Plans

February 14 2015

Do many people find the travel function on this site that useful? I see messages on my timeline proclaiming that this user is coming to my area. But when I check the profile they are going to the Gold Coast, about 600km away from where I live. I am not complaining, I connected with a lovely lady last week after posting a travel plan down to Brisbane. So it kind of works. I don't see too many of those messages, is it heavily used, or does it actually filter so I don't see most of them being out of my area?

but I'm considering it as I'm traveling to Melbourne in March, but I don't want to 'hook up' necessarily while I'm there, it'd just be nice to get out and meet some people. I did receive a message from a Melbourne forumite this morning though offering a drink and a chat so maybe the forums might be a good place to mention travel plans?

Whenever we've checked people coming to our area, they're going to Melbourne and that's travelling for us so don't look at them anymore. When we've used the travel planner we have been inundated with flirts/messages so it does get attention. Carnivale, Port Douglas, end of May is our next getaway :)

Worked wonders for me when I went to Fiji. And met up again, when returned back in Australia. It works even overseas. Foxy

When ive travelled I have done a travel plan. Ive met some lovely ppl thru the travel thingy. Ive also met ppl who did a travel plan to my area. But agree with you op, the travel alert that comes up "who is travelling to my area" really is way out of whack. Im brisbane and often get as far away as cairns on my alerts.

Who is traveling to my area and date finder are two things I'd love to be able to opt out of. I live in the middle of Sydney - so loads of people travel to this to here and who needs travellers when you live in Sydney - the most populous city. There's a few eligible peeps around without having the fumble with timing for people who are here briefly

..... doesn't seem to work as well when you are going to smaller regions/post codes .... seems to work on larger geographical areas ...... sometimes have to pick a location up to a 100km in rural WA ?? ...
