...to pay 24 bucks every fortnight to have my head shaved short, mainly because I enjoyed the chat and the scalp massage at the same hairdresser I'd been going to for years. But I stopped that over a year ago and now just do it myself in 5 minutes with my trusty Wahl clippers. Eventually doing the math of 24 bucks, roughly 26 times a year, year after year....I admitted to myself there were better ways I could spend that money. Like travel and rock concerts. ☺

I go to a hairdresser when I need a cut or trim, only because it would be an absolute nightmare if I tried to do it myself (straightening my own hair is bad enough). My hairdresser is trying to train me to book appointments in advance rather than running in like a whirlwind when I'm at a total loss and my hair is beyond control by then. I have a gym membership, but it's one of those 24 hour gyms that seem to be popping up everywhere these days, only because trying to line up with classes on set days and times is almost impossible for me. I get my nails done. It's the one thing I do religiously that I class as pampering. I have horrible nails unless they're professionally done and worry about handing a client's resume to an employer with really unattractive hands. Some bits I have waxed professionally (my face) and other bits I shave at home. I have skin care products which seem to be gathering dust on the bathroom shelf, except for the basic facial wash in that range which is used every morning. Oxygen therapy? Really? I'm gonna have to google that one so I guess it's just plain breathing for me.

Do you like to splurge on looking after yourself? Do you get your hair done religiously or cut it at home and use a packet dye? - I get my hair done professionally every few months thankfully I only add foils so even if they wear out its not noticeable like dark roots or anything Personal trainer and gym membership or exercise via housework? at home exercise machines and walkies Getting your nails done or just giving them a clean? Don't like the feeling of fake nails and can paint them almost as well as at home so dont see the point. Pay for waxing or wax and shave at home? Shaving but about to do laser because I won some sessions - I do get my eyebrows waxed religiously though - despite not having a lot of hair i'm very particular about them Facials and skin care products or a bar of soap in the shower? body wash Oxygen therapy or just breathing in general? breathing For those who are more DIY is it because you prefer it, can't be bothered juggling appointments, money saving or just because it's not a big focus for you? Or that you like be au naturel? depends on which one, nails because i dont see the point and find them uncomfortable plus i wont let anyone touch my feet so pedicures are out of the question. Shaving is more because I prefer it over wax.

I trim and colour my hair myself. Ive always done my own nails. Dont think Ive ever had a job where long pretty nails were practical! Im on my feet all day at work, I walk a lot and have great work outs with my partner I had a Brazilian wax for the first time in many years last month. ( OUCH! ) But it might be my new monthly treat... I dont use expensive products. Have tried a few of them but they dont leave my skin as soft and clear as coconut oil. I make my own body scrub and use paraben free body wash in the shower. Breathing for me..... My splurge would be my perfume and body lotion from Loccitane, but thats not monthly. Some of my friends love being pampered at salons and it sounds great but I just cant be bothered and would rather use the money for something else. As for products, different things suit different people. My mum used coal tar soap and Astral, has still lovely skin at 79. Yes, Id like to hear from more guys about their "pampering" regimes???

Quoting 'Koolgrey' ...to pay 24 bucks every fortnight to have my head shaved short, mainly because I enjoyed the chat and the scalp massage at the same hairdresser I'd been going to for years. That used to be my habit for haircuts, except I would keep trying different hairdressers. I was hoping one of those chats would end up in a date, but it never happened... but likewise I did like the head massage :) Now I cut my own and have for many years. Still on topic, occasionally I have splashed out for a professional massage, but only a few times. I do enjoy relaxing in the bath, especially if it's cold out.

I do a lot of pampering etc on the spare of the moment or the next day . I spend a lot of money on my hair ( they say it's your crown and glory ) Clinque mild soap bar I have used forever . Yes I have a gym membership. I have strong healthy nails, I paint them at home .I do have facials , chemical peels when I want my skin to feel refreshed. I have had Botox twice this year .I prefer to shave quicker easier . I do like to treat myself when I have the time and the money ..

My hair...............sits on the bedside table most daysGym, hot yoga, walks when I can My nails are fucked but I spend a lot of time on them. Like to do my own with shape and color Laser my own hair, not much left but get my eyebrows done when my diy pruning gets a bit out of control, like today! Like an occasional facial but trying to get my act together in the bathroom with the cream stuff Just had a microdermabrasion............nice. Chemical peel next time maybe. So dont fuss too much..............but the fact Pink_Sprinckles calls me Princess Annie makes me think I may be more high maintenance than I know

no to all of it, well except hair, can't avoid that, but I do straighten my own hair every day. But yeah, I'm really worried about money at the moment. I'm so exhausted and feel like I'm killing myself, I'd love a guy to come riding along on his white horse and scoop me up, pamper me a bit, let me have a break for 5 minutes. Sorry, little vent there. If I could afford to do those things, I probably wouldn't anyway. I'd never pay for someone to do my nails, waxing etc, anything I can do myself, I will. I'd rather save the money and use it for socialising or a holiday, God if I had any spare money, I need a holiday so bad, that would be a priority, but no hope of that, can't even pay the bills The one thing I would do often if I had the money, would be to pay for erotic massages. If I could find a hot person to deliver this, and could afford it, I'd get one every day haha bugger it, I'd probably hire him as permanent staff

I went to TAFE a few years ago and did the Nail Tech and Tinting & Waxing Modules of a Beauty course just so i could do my own. Even paying for the courses I think I've saved a fair bit of money, and I do friends and family and they pay me for the stuff used...so it's win/win I get my hair cut/styled every few months when it looks a bit ragged, but mornings for me are wash, mousse and go (no styling, just hope for the best!)I have a gym membership and a PT (who's a friend of mine), I go every day early in the mornings. Making myself get up and go works for me...at home I'd just put it off and not do anything. No real pampering and skincare/facial stuff. My basic beauty products are whatever friends have recommended or I've picked up on sale somewhere.

I'm a firm believer of self care so I tend to do all of the things listed that make me feel good. I love having facials and massages. I have a pt at the gym mainly because I wouldn't go if I didn't lol and spend money on good skin care product mainly clinque. Gotta love yourself :) xx

But I'm a pampered princess all the way, but I look for quality at cost :) I've never cut my own hair because it's natural curly (think Jackson 5 lol) and without product and straightening, I hate it. I've had to learn to love my hair so I do treat myself : colour and foils for $80 from a hairdresser who works from home :) I have professionally manicured feet and fingernails etc. I get waxed every 4-6 weeks and have just started laser Brazilian sessions. I do group personal training, 3 of us, as well as walking and using the treadmill at home. There was a time where I did do everything myself because I was a stay at home mum or was working part time and funds were tighter! I'd even get hubby to help me wax my legs ;) but that didn't work for either of us lol! Now it's my time out, pampering is just one of my vices lol Mary xx

Yes I do. Why not? ...if I want to look my best and feel good, I will treat myself. If I want a pedi, blowdry/straighten, cut/color (spend the bucks on a keritian treatment) at hairdressers etc, a pedi/mani, spray tan, holiday, what ever..I'll go do it, because I can. I work hard, so why not? I can treat myself. If I want to do it, I will. It's for me, no one else. Ms Foxy

The above, does not mean I am high maintenaince. It just means I take pride in my personal appearance and value myself enough to take time out to do things, I like doing. After all our bodies are our temples and we should look after them. ;) Ms Foxy

Hair trim on about an 8 week schedule. I'm trying to grow it out. I colour at home for convenience. I always make sure it is done a few days before a big event such as Red Heaven. Mr will get his hair cut before a big event. I'm 5 treatments into laser hair removal for brazilian and underarms. Best money spent as it's less than the cost of a wax. Mr manscapes at home. I don't worry so much about the nails. I can't have long pretty nails due to my job anyway. Not into tanning. My skin is fine the colour it is. But I do moisturise morning and night and make sure my make up is taken off. Still trying to get Mr to make it part of his routine. We have a gym at home because then we can workout together and still watch the kids. We prefer couples and singles with an average, athletic or slim body and thus try and keep in shape ourselves. Plus the overall health benefits of being fit....... I try and save money where possible because I spend a lot on lingerie, costumes, dresses and shoes. We don't expect anyone to be perfect but we do expect couples and singles that we meet to take pride in themselves.

Mostly because I don't have the time or disposable income. I do miss getting my nails done regularly, and if I could I'd get my hair done once a week - just a shampoo, head massage and professional blow dry or straighten. My hair is long, and insanely thick, so the hour or so it takes me to straighten my own hair is just killer on my arms. Plus, I'm a sucker for a head massage. Sigh. Eyebrow waxing is about my only indulgence, and only when my girls pester me to get theirs done - I figure I might as well while I'm there. Apart from that, I do most things myself, if I do them at all.

Even when I have more $ that has been and will still be mostly the same, I've never been big on going to salons etc. Hair - sounds bad but I probably average a trim about once a year. I very rarely use heated appliances though so my hair is usually in good condition and I don't get many split ends. Mainly colour at home but occasionally splurge on getting it done at the hairdressers when I can afford it or if there's a special occasion. Nails - I went through a big nail phase and learned quite a lot about taking care of and doing them myself, and I like the results better than having them done professionally. I have a LOT of nail polish and some very cool colours. The last couple of years both my toenails and fingernails have been affected by psoriatic arthritis though so I've been keeping them quite short and . Skincare - have worked out a home regime that works for me. I have natural olive skin so have never needed to bother with tanning (not that I would anyway even if I had fair skin). Hair removal - all at home, used to get professional brazilians but have started doing that myself as well. Once I start working full time again I definitely want to get laser for that. I have recently started paying for a gym membership, as gym memberships go it's not that expensive and I have found it a good thing since I'm trying to do a bit more in terms of cardio as well as a bit of weights training just to strengthen up a bit. Plus in summer up here I just find it too hot and humid to do much outdoors, and my house isn't suitable for any home exercise. I take my dog for walks as well and used to do yoga which I want to start up again.

Have I begun paying for pampering. Used to cut my hair once a year- always had it tied back so didn't worry. Mr LAL had enough of me spending money on everyone else and not thinking about myself so made this year the year of me :) Have been discovering the pleasure of professional hair , massages etc and I've enjoyed it tremendously. Next step is getting a proper skin care arsenal sorted and then remembering to use it. I'm pretty sure the weight loss goals I have will be successful due to the 20 hours a day I'm clearly going to need to spend in the bloody bathroom motioning and portioning myself.... There will be no time to snack on the couch :) - Posted from rhpmobile

Would never do my own hair but I dye it when I feel like something different. Can't remember the last time I did that. 18 moths ago perhaps. I have a Gym membership and I love hot yoga I get pedicures every 4 weeks but don't bother with my nails. I just keep them short. Better for poking in holes. :p I have some sort of massage prett much every week at a Thai massage place and have been meaning to have regular facials but only do those a few times a year. I had my legs, twat and underarms lazered so don't have to worry about that. Eat out 3-4 times a week if not more. Not sure when I last turned the stove on. Actually, think it was 2 weeks ago when I cooked for the BF. Hmm... Should really pay more off on my mortgage I suppose. Lol

I have them done every fortnight or 3 weeks at a stretch. They are acrylic and I love them. I have been getting them done for nearly 10 years and literally cannot do anything when I don't have them. I like to get waxed professionally but usually become impatient and just shave. One place used to only charge me half price because I have very little body hair :) Reading all the posts I am almost inspired to join a gym........I really should do that. If I had the disposable income I would splurge on everything. I love being pampered.

My cut and colour last four months. Fingernails and toenails - I do myself. I have had one manicure and one pedicure my whole life. Gym - I go every week Face - I use Twenty8 products, I cleanse, tone and moisturise, then use a scrub once a week. Don't pay for facials. I shave rather than wax but am looking at getting laser for bikini and underarms. I like a more natural look but I also do a lot myself to save money and time....all those appointments take so much time!

being a single full-time working mother, there is not much time to spare. Money wise, there are things I dpo at home and some i leave to the professionals. Hair, get it trimmed and shaped every 4-5 weeeks, to keep the frizzy in check. Also like the idea of being well groomed so it starts with the hair. I spend more money on good, tried and tested hair products, not necessarily expensive. I have to maintain 3 sets of products for the home, one for each person in the family. so it gets a bit much , specially the boys are fussy. I used to go to hairdressers to straighten hair. costs a fortune. Now I bought this brush and straightener in one. Fantastic tool and works great. Saves a lot of time and money going to the hairdresser. Highly recommended, but you need to invest in good heat protector spray so you dont dry out your hair. Argan oil after to keep hair smooth and shiny and manageable. I do the housekeeping with little or no help from the boys. However, they help around in other ways like repairs, changing sheets and dishwashing. and mowing./some gardening. comes in handy during fall. I have two gym membership - one for a fighting gym where I train 2-3 times a week in boxing and/or muay thai. the other membership is for cardio/resistance training using machines/weights. when I am very busy or away, and can't get to the gym, i would go for a 20-30 run around the neighborhood and followed with 15 mins floor exercises with my kettle ball and dumbbells (variations of sit ups, push ups, star jumps, squats (lots of it), lunges). nails- hardly. i dont have time. i keep it short and clean. occasionally will paint it, easy maintenance specially when travelling for work. nails and boxing/kickboxing dont mix. lol. who has the time? no facials, but i do have a regiment. i clean my skin twice a day, morning and night. always try to go to bed with clear and clean skin so the skin will have time to breath and recuperate. I do believe I have great skin and I use moisturizers, scrub every week, and sun screen. basic stuff. Lots of water and hardly touch alcohol as it dries the skin. Hardly any wrinkles so it works for me. shave or in-shower creams to get rid of the punani hair. wax when I have time. cooking, i try to cook everyday. i like cooking and i cook for myself and kids all healthy foods and gourmet dishes. I plan the menu ahead of time, for brekky/lunch/dinner so I shop one time for all ingredients. saves time and $. My work sometimes require me to attend lunch or dinner functions or meetings. I can't control that so i make up with healthy eating (no or little junk food or take-aways) when I can. Lots of vegies or fruits to keep fibre and vitamin intakes. best for skin and overall health. I intend to live long and healthy and see a wonderful life with my kids and my future grandkids. I know it starts with me.

Ok so I usually go to the hairdressers every nine months or so. Partly because of money and partly because I hate sitting for long periods of time. I have a lot of hair - so half a head of foils, with a blow dry and straighten takes 4 hours and they charge be double what a normal head of hair would cost. Every hairdresser I've tried says the same thing. Last visit was $320 and that wasn't an expensive salon. Going tomorrow for a colour - and I'm just going to stick with one boring brown colour because it will take far less time for regrowth and cost less. For the last six months I've had my nails done. I need them refilled fortnightly but can leave them for up to 4 weeks which is ghastly. Again I hate sitting there having them done and don't like spending the money. But my nails are so soft - and being a stay at home mum I wash my hands, scrub and submerge so many times a day that it's more practical to have acrylic over them. And it helps with doing up buttons, scraping things out of small spaces - and I've occasionally used them as a make shift screwdriver! They have been long for a while but next time I'm asking for them to be short - I prefer the short look over long nails myself. Toenails I do myself. Shave at home, but I had two laser sessions for Brazilian and underarm before a period of sickness. Will do the whole course again and then just shave everywhere else. I don't spend a cent on skin care but will be buying some products on the weekend after being inspired by Annie's thread. Exercise - has been put on hold due to a variety of injuries and kids being sick. But I'm looking into hip hop lessons and maybe burlesque. I grew up in a gym, and used to be a body builder (it's called sculpting now) before women who looked liked women were seen in gyms! So I know technique and will probably adapt things for home. Many years ago I had an occasional facial or pedicure. But with young children, private school fees and endless specialist bills I can't justify the expense. My kids come first. Maybe when they are older mummy will treat herself to some anti ageing treatments. For those that pay for primping and pampering - good on you for treating yourselves. And for those that treat themselves at home, or treat themselves in other ways like buying beautiful books to read, cooking gourmet food, or just soaking in a nice bath with a glass of wine - good on you too! As long as you are completely present in the experience and it's not just another thing on your to do list then it can only be a great thing! x

I have my hair trimmed & coloured every 6 weeks & have my finger nails done every two weeks. (Do my own toes) I work hard so they're my treats to myself. I have my eyebrows threaded every few weeks. ( I used to pluck them but old age has me wearing glasses so now I can't get to them). I use mixed face creams etc none of them expensive. I workout 3 times a week with friends and it's free. - Posted from rhpmobile
