Triple J Hottest 100

December 13 2015

Yep it's that time of year again. I don't listen to Triple J as much as I used to as a lot of the music they play these days doesn't really appeal to me (not surprising, it happens as you get older)...but I still discover a fair bit of new stuff that I do like through them and I usually put a vote in. If you're voting feel free to share your selections here. Mine: Ali Barter - Hypercolour Grimes - Flesh Without Blood Grimes - Venus Fly Disclosure - Magnets HEALTH - Stonefist Example - Whiskey Story The Dead Weather - I Feel Love (Every Million Miles) Alison Wonderland - U Don't Know SAFIA - Counting Sheep Leftfield - Bilocation

Neither have I lol Alison Wonderland wtf who would call themself that 😎 so now, in the name of research, i'll jump onto YouTube and have a listen, get back to you op with my verdict, though listening to a song once isn't enough to make a judgment, I need to check out some new stuff so it'll be fun - Posted from rhpmobile

Well....the Ali Barter song I actually discovered via Double J, which I listen to sometimes and was relying on when I was out of town on uni placement recently (no Triple J in small rural towns). Double J is the station tailored to the more 'mature' listener Also, the Leftfield song I only discovered when I was browsing the voting list. I love some of Leftfield's stuff from back in the day in the 90s so I was very happy to see they're still around.

The annual vote is based on music that's been released over the last year...new stuff. They did do a hottest 100 of all time a couple years back, going back to music from the 60s from memory.

Apart from Disclosure, me too. Maybe we should get our heads together and come up with a list?

I myself haven't listened to new music for some time except when someone introduces me to it. I found that jjj sold out from what they originally intended and have lost a lot of followers, just my opinion. A radio station here did a top 1000 over a week the 60'-80's proved so popular that they dumped their usual programming for 60's-80's tunes, so if my radio goes on at all it is to that station.

Good list. Maybe not my top 10, but I'd be surprised if they didn't all make the 100 comfortably. - Posted from rhpmobile

Many moons ago, (when Eminem was just coming up) Triple M in Sydney did their 'hottest' 100- and in at numbers 1 was Eminem's- My Name Is... Oh, how all the bogans jammed the switchboard up for 2 weeks after that, it was hilarious....!! "That's not rock, you motherf-" (*click*). "I'm never listening to you stupid c-" (*click*). And they PLAYED THEM ON AIR...! It was GOLD 😂😂😂 My phone didn't recognise Eminem either- it tried to autocorrect to 'enema'....

Quoting 'PepperRose' I'd bet money that Drake's Hotline Bling does well though. Damn that song I kept hearing about it so finally relented and listened to it the other day, hated it!

Quoting 'Luck_Dragon' Well....the Ali Barter song I actually discovered via Double J, which I listen to sometimes and was relying on when I was out of town on uni placement recently (no Triple J in small rural towns). Double J is the station tailored to the more 'mature' listener Also, the Leftfield song I only discovered when I was browsing the voting list. I love some of Leftfield's stuff from back in the day in the 90s so I was very happy to see they're still around. The more "mature" listener. Yes.... When I'm working away, my TV is permanently set to one channel...MaxTV. It's my background noise of choice whilst on my laptop. I mean, what's playing now? "HeyYaa" by Outkcast. And now it's Will Smith and "Wild Wild West". Now to The Black Keys with "Lonely Boy"......excellent choice Max. I'm shamelessly mature...

Both good lists Luck and Pepper. I haven't considered mine as yet but might sit down and do that today. Definitely be a Tame Impala song in there.

was in my shortlist as well. I'm not normally into slower, emotional breakup songs but I do like that one.

My magic radio moments for 2015 seem to be coming out of Like A Version... Art vs Science with Enter Sandman and their own remix of Tried of Pretending (better than their original IMO) And Ayla, Throw Your Arms Around Me stand out to me but really I just love the whole concept.

comes through with some great stuff. Something with Numbers' mashup of Sex on Fire and Hits from the Bong is an older one that's still a fave of mine. Owl Eyes version of Pumped Up Kicks was great too and from memory it came in higher than the original in the Hottest 100 that year. I hadn't heard the Art vs Science version of Enter Sandman so just checked it out. Really good. Also...I would totally be down for a foursome with all the members of that band...

Like a Version - awesome segment. I think since I just choose this song to play at my funeral I'll have to choose Boo Seeka covering it : MØ 'Pilgrim'
