Vibrators on Planes

October 23 2015

Hi All Fellow Members, I will be traveling without hubby for work shortly and was wondering if anyone has had experience in traveling with a vibrator within their carry on luggage whilst traveling within Australia? I will not have any check in luggage and only carry on. What is the best way to get this toy through without getting stopped and being made to open the bag in front of everyone in line at Sydney Domestic Airport and preventing the embarrassing moment? I look forward to your reply. Mrs Naughty

I'm thinking that maybe if the security guys/gals really want to ask you what that 'thing' is in your bag you will just have to say it's a gift from your husband and wink... I'm guessing though that they have seen it all before many times and will just leave you alone. They also might want to avoid an embarrassing moment themselves. Either way... Just be prepared with an answer 😉 - Posted from rhpmobile

No probs - took my new vibe on the plane this year, used it with hubs controlling it remotely before take off, came, then joined the mile high club later on the flight!! It was a night flight! Very sexy 😜😈

I have travelled with a small rechargable bullet. No issue in my carry on. Not sure about batteries in a vibe though. Dont they make you take batteries out? Meander??

Mine don't have batteries but I do think you're right. Best to only bring non-battery operated toys, OP.

Equipment containing batteries should be switched off or even better, take the batteries out (the airlines don't require you to do this, but it also prevents any accidental vibrating noises if it inadvertently gets switched on ). Any spare batteries are supposed to be in carry on baggage, not checked baggage. There's no guarantee that they won't search your bag (although it's highly unlikely as I'm sure they see lots of them) but as others have said, just be prepared with an answer and 'own' it, don't get embarrassed by it.

Re the issue of embarrassment, no one else will notice. And those involved have seen it all before, I can assure you. Do something every day that scares you.

Quoting 'willowtree_2' I have travelled with a small rechargable bullet. No issue in my carry on. Not sure about batteries in a vibe though. Dont they make you take batteries out? Meander?? batteries in vibes are fine, they're actually preferred installed in items otherwise you have to tape over the terminals so they can't accidentally discharge/short. If travelling with a vibe that uses a push button, I'd put something over the battery terminal inside so it can't be powered on accidentally. Never had a problem with rotary dial type controls turning on accidentally. Don't forget to double bag your lube in check-in, or keep it under 100ml if in hand luggage international. If it's in a carry-on make sure it sits upright as the pressure change can force lube out if upside down, silicone is a pain to get out.

Should have known you could be counted on for any airline info ✈. Hows the frequent flyers points stacking up? P.s... Sounds like youve had the lube accident. Yes its a bitch to clean out of your bag. Snap lock bags are great.

even in carry on as long as the batteries are switched off...I would put it in a simple box or wrap it up in a scarf.less likelyhood of the screening agent looking at you with great interest when they screen your carry on :) Meander mentioned China - that was no issues at all for me too - but the toy was in the checked in luggage... However UAE and Qatar gave me the creeps so bad that I left it at home - they are very very strict even with transiting passengers, they have the right to check the contents of your ipod too!, and the last thing I wanted is to be held up there just because of a toy.. Same applies for Indonesia - if anyone is planning a naughty break during Xmas-New Year's Eve to Bali - be aware!- and even Singapore can be a little bit difficult..surprisingly similar experience with the USA, depends which state one lands (e.g Dallas is Texas - not the same as LAX in California) ....just be aware before you travel with a vibrator in a bag-some countries can be very very difficult

I did make the mistake of handcarrying my vibrator many years ago when I went on a dirty weekend to meet my bf (now ex) in Coolum. take the batteries out. Is all I can say...

Two guards made me take it out of my bag, asked me what it was, then called a third guard who walked off with it, before returning a minute or so later looking rather flustered. There was a long line of people behind me and some were rather amused, judging by the sniggering I could hear. ;-)

I'm thinking of modifying a movie theme and changing a Samuel L Jackson quote here... On a more appropriate point, yes, make sure the device does not accidentally switch on. I've noticed such suspect noises in boxes and drawers when doing furniture removals... although I know from my own travels it can be an electric shaver. But you have all neglected the most important problem that can result from this: flat batteries!!!

Thank you everyone for the replies to my our post! I think I am just going to just bite the bullet and take it with me on board. I will let you all know how it goes and if anything else happens. Any more last advice??

I flew to Darwin a couple of years ago, and packed 2 or 3 vibrators in my luggage. Nothing was ever said, and there is no rason not to take one with you.

As someone who works in the aviation industry a couple of things regarding battery operated toys. There's no issue with taking it on board but if its in your checked luggage, please please please take the batteries out. In this day and age anything vibrating we treat suspiciously and you will be called back to the check in desk to open the bag up. The other issue is that if it switches itself on after its been loaded, it risks becoming a fire hazard if it overheats. And contrary to popular cinema there's no way to access it once you've taken off. And since you're all going to ask if I've got any stories, I'll make quick mention of the lady who was stopped by security on an international flight with a set of handcuff in her carry on. Good authority tells me they were fluffy and pink...

yup ,take out the batteries ,they have a nasty habit of going off at the worst possible times TWICE ,lmao, and its amazing how much noise they can make from inside your suit case , or in the over head locker in the ,mrs carryon ,lol

Airport security will not say anything. If you have an electric toothbrush then put it next to it in your bag.

good point about them overheating *coupleinheat* which makes it a safety issue, whole different thing. My magic wand is not battery operated but it overheats really quickly, after about 10-15 minutes, it has to be switched off. I can't use it anyway, it's too powerful for me, however, battery operated, who's to say how much they would heat up if left on for an extended period of time

If you act loud and proud ( which you should be anyway) of the fact you have no qualms about carrying what is an extension of personality, they will be more embarrassed than you. There is no reason you should feel embarrassed. Your self confidence is what would make it seem insignificant to you if they did find it. Rendering any pleasure they may get from trying to embarrass you. Besides all that, If I saw a toy pulled out of a woman's bag .. I wouldn't be laughing.. I'd be thinking prrrrr.. Kinky babe.. !!!
