What does “professional” mean

November 12 2020

Why do people feel the need to state that they are professional people in their profile?? Is it a status thing? I understand the people in the public sector and the need to protect their identity’s etc, but all the others? I’d say I was a professional, but I think a professional tradie isn’t what everyone is getting at 🤣

Professional could mean anything. A professional bullshitter, absolutely anything. The same with "looking for select couples or singles". Select? RHP should add "select professional" to their "about me " list :)

The way I’d describe it is a person/couple/group’s profile and their subsequent day jobs and/or lives are subject to scrutiny and criticism by their employer, peers associated to their job/profession and their community at large. There is also a family implication for anyone who is LGBTQI who has not yet “come out” to their close ones. It’s a call for respect and discretion in our swinging lifestyle.

Some state they are "professionals". Professional dentists, bullshit-artists, ASIO, mafia or something like that. You know, can't show their faces for work purposes. *Farcough*. Whole some state they are paid professionals, in a paid job. Maily face to face in the community, like Doctors, police, lawyers courts personal etc. That's understandable. Ms Foxy

I forgot. Some even state they are professional pussy whispers, that can lick for hours on end. Just like I'm a professional short sighted penisoligist. 😂😇😈 Ms Foxy

Reading some of the stinging comments is probally reason enough to not want to proclaim your profession. Keeps the old tall poppy syndrome very much alive and well.. But really ' i dont think rhp is the right place ' more a ego thing if anything..

Plenty of 'Professional ' timewasters about. Personally l can't see why if you have a 'professional' career, it automatically makes you desirable. Personality wise, you are more likely to be a tosser than anything else so maybe its a warning to steer away from them and go for those that in touch with reality. The guy who washes dishes down the pub may be a top root and fun to hit the tiles with. Whereas the lawyer guy that wants to get into my pants is probably a soft cock that's going to bore me to tears. All just labels to try and impress

Probably to big note themselves and stroke their fragile egos, as if they are somehow more entitled to discretion based on their chosen profession / perceived status than the same common courtesy that would and should apply to anyone else. It's definitely something that stands out the wrong way in a profile to us.

funky did some research ... there is nothing in the oxford dictionary that sheds any light on what "professional" means in the context of being a swinger ! So, went to the trusty Urban and this is what it is... Definition of Professional..."Going Professional" is slang common in stoner circles where everyone sharing a bowl uses their own lighters. "Grab your lighter, we're going professional" So there you have it, basically its just people into the drug scene that dont like to share ! Kisses and Your Welcome.

Firstly, employed. Secondly, not a tradie.

After reading through the comments, it's interesting to see other people's views and it gave me a slight boost in confidence. I've seen those and I've felt kind of embarrassed enough to not try because I'm not there yet, even though I'm working on it. Now I see that not everyone is like that, I am encouraged. :)

Miss T articulated it pretty well. I work in a customer facing role and I am part of an association of people in my profession. I don’t want to mix my personal life to professional one. It is really a call for discretion to my private life.

I don't think of it as a bogan thing... i think it means please acknowledge that there are quite a few careers where "misconduct" or "unprofessional behaviour" (as determined by somebody else!) can result in major consequences, license cancellation, even disbarment from the profession. So naturally some are more cautious and concerned. No disrespect but for instance it's unlikely a gardener caught bonking his client is going to get banned from gardening but a primary teacher accomplishing a tour de force with a piece of fruit???? If the use of the term offends in some way there are always plenty more fish in the sea :-)
