Don't men accuse women of trying to change them when they suggest they lift their game?

Well I hate to say it but it just does not seem to be a guy thing. I like to dress but noticed that guys are in the minority doing that. Also there is not as much in perth in the way of cloths and I have shopped Melbourne and Sydney. Still cloths for men is not that impressive in quality and number of styles.

I don't go to clubs where you see most of the young ladies dressed in heels they can hardly walk in, dresses that barely cover their arses even in -5 freezing conditions and makeup caked on an inch thick with fake nails, fake tans and fake eyelashes. From what I have seen the younger men are quite fashion savvy too but it is a different generation. I can't say that I notice too much what men are wearing, I have never expected the men in my life to be overly conscious of what they are wearing unless it is a special occassion. Coming from a working class background, most of the men I knew were in earthworks that worked with my father and I married a welder so they looked good if they had a shower, lol. I quite like the look of a man in work clothes, dirt and all and I like them in jeans and t-shirt as long as they are clean and tidy and not slobby looking. They do need to know how to rock a pair of jeans.

spent a few days in hospital and omg,the young doctors both male and female were not only gorgeous but they were all fashion mavens..I kid you not...designer clothes and I swear one young woman was wearing a pair of Jimmy Choos..I complimented her look and she laughed and said that she had been dodging her boss all day...the Jimmys were not exactly regulation footwear xxQ

Dress to impress ? Now what is the category ? Suit = impressive ? How about the casual t-shirt, jeans , sneekers etc, maybe our 2 views differentiate heaps, classy armani jeans. Hugo Boss T Shirt, a nice pair of Lacoste sneekers I would and do feel classy, or do I plump for my Hugo Boss suit, Boss Tie to feel better ? I feel good in what I wear regardless, I put effort into what I wear and buy, but yet again opinions differ to what and when and of course the scenario.Just my opinion as usual ☺ - Posted from rhpmobile

And I don't know where I'm going to... In need of a style makeover, can be accused of tshirt/jeans combo too regularly. Looking sharp, looking for love (well lust at least)... Shine on you crazy diamonds. Silva

Well, living in the Inner West, if a guy can look fab in a pair of black skinny leg jeans and a white form-fitting shirt, I'm won. I dislike suits and jackets, as I like to see how a guy can fill out his clothes.Snazzy dressing to me is just background noise. I'd rather a guy who can impress with his communication skills, street smarts and a sense humour, than anyone who can 'dress up'. That is, unless I'm off to the theatre or similar, but then, that would never do that for a first meet. Each to their own.

I mostly see this around Perth, especially in good restaurants, where grotty jeans and sneakers are really out of place. I am all for individual style, being casually dressed has its place and many do that well and look great. What I am seeing though is just a complete lack of effort, to the point of dirty. I raised it because I was out for dinner with a female friend the other night and she described it as a lack of respect to the woman that the man was with.

re raffs comment, yes you aright the girls over do it these days. Was sitting with a bunch of guys and they were talking about Halloween. apparently the pub is putting on a do, he said well it will be full of girls dressed as sluts. So the others go well yeah what is wrong with that? He said if they took their make up off it would be Halloween without the makeup. I had to say all innocently, what is the version of a male slut? You guessed it the young guys said a stud, the old guys just shook their head with a smile. I like simple, jeans and t is ok with me. I am big on uniforms , but that also depends on the man in the uniform. When I go out not much changes except i put on a bit of make up, cannot wear heels anymore. I think my best look is naked to tell the truth. But that depends on the depth of field in the beer goggles a guy has on. Its also costly as well if you want the nice things in life. So not all man can afford the good stuff.

Yes there is nothing like a well dressed man. I've had several parties and functions and I'm always amazed that men don't dress up. Even if you have put it down as a requirement. Look at the peacocks. They know what it's all about. A guy in a nice suit can never be wrong. But I think Aussies in general are a bit slack or laid-back as we say. Clothes make things more sexy. See you on the cat walk :)

Years ago I borrowed a mate's jacket, it was a Jag limited line designer jacket. Casually walking down the street on my own and several guys in a car do a quick u turn and pull up next to me. Needless to say, I did not like the odds, so made a quick escape. This was at a time when muggings for leather jackets were not unheard of. Being approached when out for money etc with some BS spin..Brrrr that only happened again yesterday. Yeah right, next thing they are heading straight for the pokies or booze shop. I'm going out hobo now lol its safer :) - Posted from rhpmobile

Skinny jeans on men? Particularly skinny men.... Is something I don't find attractive at all. Eek! Especially if the crotch is close to their knees. I don't like this look at all. But it's a personal preference thing.

It must be about wanting to get in my pants and grab the crown jewels :p Its about dress etc standards for your role or the establishment you are visiting and what one feels comfortable with wearing. I'm sure many individuals will agrue that their choice of dress standard should not be misconstrued as an invitation to treat them in a certain judgemental way. For example a woman that dresses in a tidy but provocative manner should not be seen and assumed as being free and easy and treated like so. PS The Foxy bug is contagious :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I went for dinner at a nice restaurant one evening, and a couple walked in. The woman wore a nice dress with strappy sandals, her partner wore a tee, board shorts.......and thongs! To me there was a lack of respect for his lovely lady. I do like a guy in gold lame Jocks, though ; )

Well, umm, there was no mention skinny guys or low lying crotches... I'm more interested in the product then the fancy packaging; marketing is lost on me. If a guy can dress down and look delectable, then that's much more appealing then a ken-doll. But it very much depends on expectations, preferences, and where this - night on the town - is taking place. Perhaps these 'fine women' actually enjoy their grungy handbags. And perhaps these men have clued onto the fact that there is more satisfying things to spend money on.
