What is the deal with the "I don't permit institutions..." blurb?

March 31 2023

I often encounter some strange paragraph in people's profiles, something like "I don't permit University of Sydney or other institutions... blah-blah-blah... using information from my profile without my consent". I'm curious why people do this. In my simplistic view, if some institution is collecting data from here for any purpose, they wouldn't care about that paragraph in the least - automated bots can't read. So is it some urban legend of RHP or something that was in the news or what?

Gullible people that think posting that means they are protected. Newsflash, it means nothing.

It's just like people being here for "research", without their partners consent. Same goes for dentists, being here, not showing their faces and doing "research". They need to post "The Privacy Act" statement like they do on Government documents, not that stupid Sydney University statement. Lol! Ms Foxy

Back in the day, RedHotPie was a mix with the of the 😛 with West and Mad Max, not the mandatory Monogamous looking for love and all He or She looking for and all the helpful romantic’s. RHP circled the wagons and sent out the word for all the dirty fuckers RHP loved us all and said come on all of you and into one can feel united and only adult of age and adult of consent and be nice…fuck any one or more if you want, make up the rules in the forums, or if you can’t spell or had experience talking, use the chit chat live stream chat and cam rooms to watch each other fuck you can be amateur porn stars or peeping Tom’s or just wankers. I could go on for longer and i can and have, but just a bit of historical relevance asides the latter days and the few got fewer of the monogamous demanding love only romantic single daters try making it all about them and whinge about being decent some try hards pushed to form a new acceptation insisting couples make way for the swingles and crashed, twirkers and squirters did much better and all of most of it all was what it was when it wasn’t and when it was it wasn’t always nice here in the sandpit we stood together and protected each other, trannies grannies gays bi swingers wankers foot fetishers fluffers tops bottoms switches gimps daddies and Mss Doms alien abducted pirates some pseudo femenistic had a crack at making all them wear undies as a rite fitting narrative and the night time undie nicker’s fetishers caused untold grief to pseudo fem across the RedHotPie community’s community. So to the thing (I never read it) stands out like dogs balls it’s a book of rules or some intimidation which would apply to some who might try pinch our amateur porn star movies we make !!! But RHP had us covered and kept out who were not included and amazingly well when thinking about the dangerous types out in the world outside of the RedHotPie. Be proud it only has you wondering and fair it’s come up often enough in the sandpit, oh well it didn’t freak you out and go frapp’n bitch, just another dirty fucker, g’day. Mado Mado Tara xx

Forget pervy academics, I’ve had people from here suggested as Facebook friends. Now that’s when I took privacy settings more seriously!

I wonder what they'll do with regards to their observations/data collection of the huge stoushes on the forums over the years. Maybe there might be a book written about it one day. What an interesting/amusing/entertaining read it would be.

Good question. That paragraph is the digital equivalent of shrink wrapping luggage on the way to Bali, where people see something and copy it without stopping to think why. Does it really matter if a random university psychology student somewhere pulls a data point from your profile for a statistic? The essays they write do not exactly have a 50 Shades sized audience (look up some of the titles lol) and university departments have ethics rules for how they use information anyway. The idea that only one specific tertiary institution would do that kind of research is also, well, interesting. Legally the paragraph is also completely useless since profiles on here are publicly available information, although maybe that stern and terrifying warning would prompt an innocent young psychology student to move onto the next profile while diligently trawling for anonymous data, who knows and who cares :)

I ignore people who put stupid shit like that in their profile. That and people who say they don't complete generic information on their profile because of work 😂

Critical thinking …. How do they anticipate they’re going to be aware that someone from any of the perceived institutions have viewed their profile given you can view profiles without the profile knowing someone has viewed it?? If the case was that there was no secret that someone had in fact viewed their profile…unless the profile that views them either stipulate their links, or the profile itself is named as such, how would they know they worked there?? Lastly…. Even if they WERE made aware, how do they figure they’re going to establish that said person/s have used parts of their profile?? It’s all just a stupid thing that advertises they don’t think much…and that makes me question what else goes over their heads??

I was confused as well and I have seen quite a few profiles with the message and some of the profiles didn't do efforts to write anything but got the disclaimer message. By the way whats with Sydney university is it marketing campaign for them 🤔
