Could be Stairway to Heaven, or Highway to Hell ???? I probably wouldn't mind something a bit more upbeat considering, maybe a bit of Dire Straits, or a bit of David Bowie, Ashes to Ashes :-)

Not that I want to be buried as I always thought it would be sweet to be the bonfire at a party, either that or be stuffed and used as a hat stand. Grave Digger by Dave Matthews is what I'd like to be sent off to.

YouTube; If I Survive by Hybrid. The extended mix is amazing... A bit of a warning shot to those in the pews. They'll be those that will be smiling- and it will be left to them to explain it to the others 😂 (A little inside joke I leave behind)

Funeral is already paid for and family know what songs I want and where to scatter my ashes (control freak to the end) my friend is playing accoustic guitar and singing Watch over you by Alterbridge. Throw in Great gig in the sky by Pink Floyd, and to bring up the mood at the end,Ride on by ACDC which is our family song and its played, and sung badly, at all our family events, and all the siblings want it played at our funerals.

But definitely at the wake... First would be Bow River. Somewhere in the middle once everyone was half pissed would be Khe Sahn, with everyone singing along of course. Then as the night drifted into the wee hours, the numbers dwindled and things were quietening down, someone needs to crank up a bit of All Along The Watchtower - Dave Matthews Band version.

You're going to go far kid by the offspring. He told our 19 year old son that he would be in charge of music for when the time comes and to now let me (wife and mum) have a say in it. No soppy shit apparently about how much 'wind was beneath my wings'. Mary xx

Pink Floyd's Great Gig in the Sky- there won't be a dry eye in the place & everyone will have goosebumps. I still get chills just imaging those three girls voices- hearing the Dark Side of the Moon version makes me useless for 20 minutes after 🎤

My father and I had this conversation years ago. For his funeral, as they're lowering the coffin into the ground, my dad wants a recording of the sounds Disney's Goofy made when falling off a cliff. At that time, I wanted Chuck Mangione's "Feel So Good" played at mine. I like the idea of playing Monty Python's "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" - that'd be good. Ooh! Ooh! Even better - as they lower my casket into the grave, they could play the sound of the TARDIS dematerializing and then play the Doctor Who theme. Ooh! Or the final song from Return of the Jedi. The original one with the Ewoks singing. Not the crappy new one from the re-released Special Editions. Damn Lucas.

My nana was an keen teddy bear collector and lover. At her funeral this year, the song she chose to be lowered into the ground (next to her husband) was..."The Teddy Bears Picnic". She was a great believer in keeping ones inner child. It actually was quite moving and soulful at the same time. Ms Foxy

Please no bagpipes at my funeral. I will rise from the living dead if that ever happened. I don't mind them, but not at my funeral..No thank you. Oh hang on... As I'm lowered into the ground I at least will get a good peak to what's underneath. On 2nd thoughts. 🤔🤔 Ms Foxy

the happy theme to some of the songs! I attended a friends funeral, he died at the age of 36 very suddenly and being a fun loving extrovert, his mother turned the funeral into a "celebration of his life" party. It was a great day, he would have loved to have been there. I like Abbas Move On, and Id love a happy song like Pharrells Happy, as my life has been 99% happy, and Ive lived a lot longer than some of my friends, Ive been blessed. Id rather a party than a funeral, and I dont want an expensive bloody coffin, a fridge freezer cardboard box will do nicely thank you!

By Michael Jackson would be my choice of music to be played at my funeral because, it would reflect who I am in character and my passion for charity :-) I want my family, loved ones and friends to remember the happy "me" and my smiling face instead of feeling a great loss and grief :-) - Posted from rhpmobile

Shaddap You Face, by Joe Dolce. I believe still the best-selling Australian single of all time? It still makes people laugh.Seriously though, anything that brings a smile to everyone's dial. "The Rainbow Connection" by Kermit? And yes, "Down Among The Dead Men'', which may only be fitting if I perished on a cruise ship. When I get around to making such plans, tearjerkers would be expressly forbidden at my farewell do. The best farewell was my grandfather's on the day he died. We all convened at his place, laid him out in his bed as best we could whilst we awaited the funeral mob to come collect him. We set up a small stereo beside him and played Slim Dusty (his absolute favourite), drank beer and smoked ciggies (he loved both) one last time with him. Might sound distasteful to some (my sister was quite unimpressed), but we all knew he would have loved that we did that. A few tears here and there but we all knew that he would hate such sadness. Cue the official funeral and wake a few days later and it was all soppy ''Wind Beneath My Wings", tears, hankies at dawn and arguments. He would have been disgusted. A funeral I attended many years ago, the music played was seemingly designed to wring every last tear from you. Yes, Wind Beneath My Wings again. Goddamn you, Beaches.

Either the 1st movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony or the last movement of the 9th Symphony. Actually, I'd really like all four movements of the 9th Symphony to be played. I'm just not sure that the audience/guests/ or whatever it is you call people who rock up to your funeral, would actually have the patience to endure the entire symphony. That said, I do expect someone to give a beautiful reading of Psalm 23, The Lord is my Shepard.... No, I'm not particularly religious, something might be out there. I guess. I just find that Psalm to be particularly poetic and peaceful. And yes, it must be read from the King James version of the bible, all of this modern language business makes the written word so boring when it comes to the world of verse, poetry and writing.

but Josie's mention of Psalm 23 reminded me that, that psalm may have been the seed for my atheism. The line " the lord is my shepherd i shall not want" meant to me, as about a 5 or 6 YO, that I didn't need him. I am supposedly reasonably bright but didn't wake up to the true meaning of the line (being that he'll take care of all my needs), til I was in my 20's. Any way at the age of 10 or 12 I very definitely told my Sunday school teacher mother that there was no god and I was an atheist. Come to think of it I may not have known what an atheist was, but I was certain I was one. Anyway I am still a devout atheist so perhaps I shouldn't have a funeral. So what am I doing reading and commenting on this forum?????

Funerals were only for people who espoused some sort of faith.a belief in some sort of God then there would be very few funerals ...most cultures have some sort of burial rite.even Neanderthals apparently..in mho a funeral is a celebration of someone's life,an opportunity to grieve and the final rite of passage..music and words are an important part of the ritual xxFreya

Found another Hozier - Take Me To Church Stunning song and almost sounds appropriate, but ... from an interview from the lyrist: " "'Take Me to Church' is essentially about sex, but it's a tongue-in-cheek attack at organizations that would … well, it's about sex and it's about humanity, and obviously sex and humanity are incredibly tied. Sexuality, and sexual orientation — regardless of orientation — is just natural. An act of sex is one of the most human things. But an organization like the church, say, through its doctrine, would undermine humanity by successfully teaching shame about sexual orientation — that it is sinful, or that it offends God. The song is about asserting yourself and reclaiming your humanity through an act of love. Turning your back on the theoretical thing, something that's not tangible, and choosing to worship or love something that is tangible and real — something that can be experienced. "

quite a number of years off for me, and have not given it a great deal of thought with regards to various service details. One thing I would like played at some stage during the service is a lone bugle player, playing 'the last post', as I have a strong association with Anzac Day, and I personally find it a very fitting piece of music for such an occasion. But there will be plenty of happy and feel good music beforehand. Tall
