Breakfast: the kids are having pancakes and ice-cream. The grown ups Cherry Bourbon Basted triple smoked ham, hash browns, eggs, wilted spinach. Lunch: Seafood, Snapper done 3 ways, lobster with mango and chilli lime dressing, Prawns natural, Oysters Kilpatrick, Scallops with garlic lime aioli , Salads washed down with Spanish Sangria. Bailey's Trifle and Poached Pear Tart all in the pool yard. Dinner: Steak burgers and leftovers. And whatever else I can concoct in the kitchen. No dishes, disposable plates, cups and cutlery.....actually looking forward to a 5am swim while the ham bakes (with kids no doubt!).

I have vegetable duty as usual although my sister is doing a couple of things also. We are headed to the inlaws for something different and as far as I know, she doesn't cook a roast so well so they are doing some roast meats and salads. My sister is bringing potato bake and roasted pumpkin. I will be bringing maple glazed carrots with walnuts and cheesy cauliflower & broccoli bake and corn on the cob and beans. My Mum is doing a turkey and sausages in bread if anyone is up to eating anything later at night when we move venues to my Uncles's place to catch up with the rest of the family. She also stole my sticky date pudding recipe because she wanted to try making it. I also got slugged with the cheese platter so have goats cheese, camembert, brie, wesleydale with cranberry, pear paste, fig paste, kabana, salmon, spinach dip that I made and a couple of other store bought dips and a selection of biscuits. I also made egg nog. By the end of the night, we will all be sitting around with our pants unbuttoned wishing we didn't eat so much, lol.

That means Roast Turkey and veggies, ham, salad and my late Mum's bread sauce recipe. The other, non intentional, tradition in my family is to sit down to lunch at around 3:30-4pm. Being an orphan this year I choose to still do the traditional meal (on a smaller scale) for a few reasons.Just because I can't be with my family this year...Doesn't mean that I can't have what they're eating. I also get a good week of cold turkey sandwiches and toasties out of the leftovers. Hope everyone has a gastronomically great day. Xxxmas cheers and beers!Rusty

Is all I know. We don't do the traditional turkey etc. but I know there will be absolutely a tonne of food, a combination of Greek, Italian and Aussie influences and lots of alcohol. My contribution is an apple strudel with custard and cream and a homemade chicken Caesar salad, dressing and crouton are homemade too. I'm hoping someone is smart enough to have made some baklava and my sister-in-law makes homemade cannoli. There will be lobster/crayfish as my brother has friends in the local fishing industry but not for me, I'm allergic to shellfish ! All I can say is enjoy. Merry Christmas xx

Xmas eve - Explosive fight and break up replete with broken furniture, mirrors and spirits. Xmas morning- Hungover, tear-caked, bruised and battered crawl up the emotional stairs with a reconciliation to forget the night, and enjoy the day before a big decision is made. Sex, consolation for turmoil. Then, ahem, food! The best kind of love!! Xmas lunch - Hand made squid ink pasta which I cut into inch wide strips and cooked in white wine, fresh tomatoes, scallops, mussels, squid and parsley. Then a brief nap outside to sun a soul of broken bones. followed by more consolation. Xmas dinner - Stuffed quail marinated in wine and thyme and lemon roasted with kipfler potatoes served with oil and lemon drenched green beans and gravy from leftover marinade and quail juices. Xmas night - Attacked the tiramisu I made yesterday preparing for a great indulgent day. From despair to delight. Like the grinch. I wish I was more normal. Merry Christmas everyone
