When you wonder ...did they think that through ?

December 09 2015

Not trying to be some type of music snob but I did think THATS ODD I was recently at a friends wedding, lovely couple and a great wedding. The song she chose to walk up to the waiting groom was Wide Open Road by the Triffids excellent song I must admit. But its about infidelity and how he was left with the child and she was off fucking another man ? Made me think now that is an odd choice od song.

It might have meant something to THEM. Maybe he had been left in the lurch, met this lovely woman and she rocked his world again. Pity there wasnt a song called "Thanks for leaving me, Ive never had so much fun in my life"

Somehow "Use Somebody" by Vitamin String Quartet would be a good choice to walk down the isle too, especially if marriage was a rebound one...lol Ms Foxy

Lots of folks use the Police song, "Every Breath You Take" at weddings thinking it's a pretty song about being completely in love, when it's actually a really sinister song about stalking...

I Will Always Love You (Whitney or Dolly). “If I should stay, I would only be in your way. So I’ll go, and yet I know I’ll think of you each step of the way. Good-bye. Please don’t cry. We both know I’m not what you need.” They love each other but he’s better of without her so she leaves him breaking both their hearts. Mazzel tov!

Ava Maria so pretty safe with that one, had an 11 yr old girl at the front of the church with the voice of an angel, but a powerful voice, unbelievably talented. Wedding video (yes showing my age I know) I had Angry Anderson 'Suddenly'. Absolutely no clue what he was singing about but it sounded good

Was at a funeral once and the song they played as the casket was lowered was " Ding Dong the witch is dead " from the wizard of oz.

Quoting 'Kokoflamingo' It might have meant something to THEM. Maybe he had been left in the lurch, met this lovely woman and she rocked his world again. Pity there wasnt a song called "Thanks for leaving me, Ive never had so much fun in my life" Tim McGraw's "Last Dollar" (Fly Away) does it for me in this regard. Been there, done that and I'm still smiling !

Yes she did choose it herself. It was what she was referred to as by her partner, in jest.

Another common one way back when was "My Happiness" by Powderfinger. The band itself couldn't believe it had become a marital anthem. A woman who comes and goes as she pleases, at least by my interpretation. I'm shit at listening to and interpreting music lyrics though. Who would have thought that "Turning Japanese" by The Vapours was about wanking? Actually, I don't feel so bad about that one - it was a bit ambiguous. Wide Open Road is an awesome song though, very beautiful despite its' subject matter, which to me is obviously a song about misguided love. Perhaps they both had been at that point (as most of us have) at some stage in their lives and the song choice was a nod toward their past. Hopefully, left behind them both. "How do you think it feels... sleeping by yourself - when the one you love, the one you love.... is with someone else". Who hasn't felt that at least once in their lives. What a beautiful song. Next time I get married - no wait, I'd rather drill into my own skull.

Perhaps op with all that occurs with wedding planning, they meant to select their next single "bury me deep in love"

If it's me you're asking... Seeing I'm the only one who mentioned, a friend introduced me one day. They are actually pretty cool and do lots of modem songs in string instruments. Google them, you'll be quite surprised. Ms Foxy
