Why do you do what you do the way you do?

September 23 2013

This is just a couple of simple questions for no particular reason beside curiousity lol. . Before writing a post in reply to a thread... Do you just read and then reply to the Original Post without reading all the posts or, do you usually read through the whole thread, or do you read the OP and the last few posts to get an idea of where the thread is at? Or maybe, like me, you do a bit of everything depending on the topic and length of the thread? Why do you do what you do the way you do? (no pun intended)

I do a bit of everything . Mostly I just reply to the Original Post because I want to share my Opinion , which has nothing to do with the Opinion of others . I prefer to speak Spontaneously , whether that's a wise choice or not . GG♒- Posted from rhpmobile

Although I tend to the latter. Some regulars I always read every word, some regulars I sort of skim a bit...new posters I usually read every word. When I respond, I usually respond to the OP and sometimes comment on other posts in the thread. Why? Just because that is the way my mind works.

To add to the overall impression of my OP, if you haven't been following a thread and it's up to a few pages, do you check to see if the OP has posted to add anything to their OP, like I've done now lol.

I really expected this thread would get very few, if any, posts lol, so thanks for satisfying my curiousity. I know it is kind of hard to answer.

I think of a Heironomous Bosch painting Mado when I read that...in fact maybe some enterprising creative might do something similar for the forums

before replying.Usually I just answer the question / post topic. After reading whatever has been posted I've made my mind up.

I tend to read the OP, skim the replies, skip over whatever annoys or bores me, and post something that responds to whatever got my attention in the above mix. Simples :)

I think this is a good topic. I always read the OP, I may ponder for awhile to the questions asked, mostly something comes to mind that relates in some way to the idea within the question. What I especially enjoy, is when someone new dips the toes, I enjoy seeing everyone share their thoughts, if the newbie has some character, and give back to the onslaught, then to see them settle into the banter and relax into the forums, that is my cup of tea.Whether the thread wanders in and out of topic, it is more that everyone is in their own way supporting the OP, so the topic becomes more of an social interaction and well covered. When everyone is feeling sexy the place explodes, when it is time to be compassionate the place becomes such, serious the same.I try to be as much a part with it all, and I love it that Tara sees this as OK. Because if this was to come between us, I would close our account and never look back.So I am as happy as a pig in shit. he heMado Tara xx

I've just been out and had a breath of fresh air and thought to share... A lot of the time... I don't even end up posting, I think so much and then I can't put across what I want to say, so I don't say anything lol. Some of it is trying to translate my fleeting thoughts into solid writing. Your questions do that to me a lot Freya. Sometimes I'll alsoi start googling stuff and get so involved and deep that I don't end up posting. R.E.S.P.E.C.T is a very interesting topic btw. I've looked into the definition and the philosophy of it... and quotes too. Too much of the time, I react to emotion and don't think before I post, then I get too carried away (knowing I shouldn't), and make an arse (that one's for you Blue, all the puns I'll be missing out on by not being able to use ass ;-)) of myself. I don't get all your stuff Mado, but it makes me laugh... I can't come anywhere near as close to funny imo. At times, I try to have a cheeky sense of humour but it seems to come across too heavy a lot of the time. One of the things I appreciate about the forums is the forgiveness that lives here most of the time. It is a humbling thing thing to experience over and over and part of the reason I stay. That's a fairy-tale number of thoughts and what happens when you don't have a jumble of dwarves to deliver your thoughts lolol. There's NOTHING simple about you Freya!!! (and I know you are way better at forum puzzles than I am!) Yer too funny EB! :-P Sorry if all of the above is TMI and sorry I couldn't be bothered with paragraphs. I'm not sure which shoulder is steering ;-D :-) .Wow! I'm just reading your last post Mado, and it is beautiful, thank you. Second to last now... :-P

Personally I hadn't even considered that you might not read the OP and jump straight to the comments ? I always read the entire thread ... from the enlightened wisdom to the spiteful drivel - there's something to take away from each comment.I would concur wholeheartedly with Mado's comments re the new posters and social dynamic ... we need to encourage new participation. If it ever comes down to it Mado before you go running off I can send a picture of my new Husqvana ride on ... might placate Tara for a little while ?I do try to check back and respond where addressed and think they (RHP) could do a much better job of the forum functionality to facilitate this. Indented comments with notification when you were directly addressed would make the whole process more enjoyable and intuitive to follow.Anyone got a direct line ? Someone must be sleeping with the guy surely.

I don't even respond to the OP. I am thinking about a response then I read someone else's comment and respond to that instead. Sometimes its simply a LOVE IT, cos there's no like button here. Other's its because I disagree wholeheartedly and say so. Every now and then when its a topic I am passionate about, such as DV, I become quite verbose. As for the why of doing what I do, impetuosity is probably the reason. At other times it could be bloody mindedness. Secretly Wild

A little from column A and a little from column B.Will read through all of a thread if it is only a few pages long... if it is, oh say 50+ paged long, like the thread about anything then I'll just read the last page or so.Always reply with my own thoughts and opinions regardless of what others may say or think because I love both the positive and negative feedback. (better to be honest and up front than to pander to the masses)And just like MisterGreen, I love reading my favorite forumites posts... some people on here have beautiful minds! (even if I don't always agree with them)

I read most of the posts to see if my opinion has been expressed by somebody else first. Otherwise, if I think of something that amuses me straight away, I'll make my reply then have a scan for favourites or new posters. Why? To try to have original posts that entertain (hopefully).

Always read op... If I didn't do that, why bother ? I normally read every post, as I don't want to just repeat what everyone else has said, it also allows me to track the progress of the thread... Which then allows me to throw in something totally random and unrelated... 😎 Hp xo 💌 Because you're worth it...

If it is something that I am interested in yes if not I will peruse briefly and answer if I can be of use, writing a parody got some people wound up, so reluctant to go there again, now I tend to obfuscate a bit.

Indef, We are not going anywhere in a hurry, and sometimes we do let "things" cum between us. Though Tara has mowers at the furtherest thoughts, in her part with this. The mower just made for the best pic I have ever taken, I love it and can't stop looking at it.Plus it was a very sexy moment as to, why we took the pics.Which is aswell another part with reading through the forums, all the fancy pics.Mado Tara xx

I start with the OP's question, ponder. Read through in entirety (90% of the time unless it seems everyone is saying the same thing at length then i tend to get bored) ponder some more. Then if i have anything to add that hasn't already been said then i will. Sometimes if i dont have anything to add i'll comment on individual posts that grab my attention, usually for fun. Otherwise i remain an observer :).- Posted from rhpmobile

the op has posted a novel I will read the first and last paragraphs to see if it's worth reading the lot, then I will start on the posts, if there are already a few pages, again, first and last.If the topic/posts are interesting I will go back and fill in as required.I'll answer depending on my mood or time available, some of the deeper topics I will come back to, but more often I just get lost in my thoughts !Also depends on who has posted, if I like the contributors I will read more.
