"You are more beutiful than you think". How very true for so many of us. *Gets a tissue*

And found it very confronting. Goes to show how distorted the perception of beauty is. Yes I do wear makeup at times (work, going out for meals etc) but when I am at home, going round to a friends place or to see the family I often don't wear it (unless I have had a real bad nights sleep and need to cover up the dark circles...lol). It has always amazed me the amount of makeup that some women and girls feel compelled to wear in an effort to achieve their idea of beauty, when in reality if they wore no more than tinted moisturiser and a hint of lip gloss their true natural beauty could shine thru.

should watch this.Thank you Lil_bit.....this delusional self perception is generational...it does make me wonder when and where it began...the first time I went to Indonesia I picked up a magazine and was shocked at the advertising for skin whitening products...it made me wonder how much women all over the world are manipulated by cosmetic companies...not to mention clothing companies...hairdressers...the list is endless ,the quest for youth and beauty even more so.....

We have tanning salons, spray tans etc and all the Asian countries have skin whitening products.

This has been going on for centuries unfortunately. If you look at history women have been trying to whiten their skin for hundreds of years... only back then they used products containing Arsenic!

It certainly highlights how critical women are of their appearance. I do note, however, that they only included women who would be considered by the majority to be attractive anyway. There was nobody who was overweight, nobody with visible scars or prominent facial / body marks etc. It's a start though. In regards to the skin colour thing....when I was younger I hated the fact that my skin was darker than most other girls', probably because a couple kids made comments, in the way that kids do when anyone is the slightest bit different. It was only as I got older and realised the lengths that some paler women go to in order to get that tanned look, that I began to appreciate my colouring. Now I actually wouldn't mind being a bit darker (I generally don't go in the sun as much these days so my skin has lightened).

But being English I just burned in the harsh Australian sun. I now go out of my way to keep my face out of it. I am glad that I have as friends my age look so much older. I shall have to look at what you have all seen as I am now curious.

100% agree what we see is all photoshopped, I love a confident partner who is keen to play and enjoys her body. And yeah you should enjoy yourself a LOT more as you are beutiful if you need clarification look at the lust in the boys/girls eyes you are playing with. That is because they DIG you!

And try not to cry. Cry a lot.Seriously though, we women (and men) are far to hard on ourselves. I think if we could all see ourselves the way a lover would see us, we'd all be much happier with ourselves.

If someone like Georgie Gardner sees herself critically then I give up!!! LOL. Paintme has big bright green eyes and an open happy face. She's earned every laugh line she has. C'mon all you amazing women ... can you describe your beauty?

Quoting '2GuysWithRespect'100% agree what we see is all photoshopped, You mean in the media in general? I think saying it's all photoshopped is a bit harsh though. And to answer paintme: I'm tall and luscious, with big hazel eyes and baby soft skin. And don't even use Dove.

I look back on photos where I thought I looked fat and just wonder WTF was I thinking!?! As for beauty I was thinking about this yesterday, that classic good looks is one thing but character and kindness in a face can make something average into something special. Back to classic beauty there's that ratio that is attributed to why we find someone attractive, between the eyes, mouth and... dunno google...

I know a lot of men to that are exceptionally body conscience to, and continually worry about how they appear. I myself am still quite self conscience about my weight and appearance because of negative influences while I was younger. I think that the old quote, beauty is in the eye of the beholder is completely true, because I much prefer my friends and partners to feel comfortable around me, and not have to change their appearance for me. Having said that, I do have two very close female friends who have both said openly that they can not be seen without makeup, which I find a shame, because they are both amazingly beautiful woman, physically and intellectually. Society has much to answer for when it comes to stereotypes and what is percieved as being "better" or more "attractive". But what would I know, I'm just a white, tattooed male, with a shaved head and a penchant for motorcycles, so am probably just a hooligan and a scoundrel.
