favorite libation combinations

September 21 2016

no this isnt anything dirty, sorry to disappoint but it may perhaps be sexy, depending on how you appreciate a good drink what are you favorite drinks/drink combinations? and do you have particular places you go where you know they make what you well? ill start off with a few of our favorites: sloe gin and apple cider (naked apple cider to be specific) good old gin and tonic, various combinations, but sweet combinations with citrus, and a bit of spice dark and stormy cold brew coffee with/without soy milk soy hot chocolate (as long as its a good quality dark) naked apple cider on its own a good ginger beer, usually matsos but their recipe has recently changed apparently as for favorite places where we know our drinks are always done well, Frisk is always our first choice in northbridge though we havent been for a little while now, need to start venturing out in the evening for a delicious tipple

Gotta be bitterly cold, gotta be in a fine glass, about 200 mls at a time. It's called being classy! Great coffee, either from Frisk or Hillarys Dog Beach in a takeaway cup, or a pre-warmed ceramic cup. Takeaway cups are a bit passe now, BUT they ensure the coffee stays drinkable for longer! It's called being sensible! Chinotto, in a glass with slice of lemon. When you want something better than Coke, can't drink alcohol, and you've had enough coffee. It's called something different! Great Guiness, made into a shandy with lemonade, on a HOT day, served in a Guiness Glass with gold lettering. It's called a travesty by The Irish, and unmentionable names by bar staff!! Hot tea, served over a glass full of ice and sliced lemon, and drunk without a straw. Again on a hot day. It's called an iced lemon tea! Milkshake, served with option of sipping it by straw out of the steel cup it was made in, or pouring it into the glass provided, and drinking it through the straw. Gotta have ice-cream in it, and be served outside at a roadside milk-bar, sitting on an old couch, or bench. It's called reminiscing! Pot of tea. Sourced from a Pommy department store, such as BHS. Go upstairs to the cafe, stand in line and get a tray. On the tray you put a full stainless steel teapot a steaming jug of hot water. Cup, saucer and small stainless jug of milk. That's taken to your table, and you get about 3 cups of tea for your money, whilst your friend, gets one cup of instant coffee for the same money! It's called being a Pom! I'm sure there's plenty more!

Quoting 'usrightnow'.Vodka, has to be stoli. No ifs, no bits. Then either straight or mix with just about anything. From mixing it with Cottees raspberry cordial and lemonade, to Schweppes lemon juice cordial and fresh lemon juice and just a dash of Schweppes lime juice cordial and Schweppes lemonade, to a Long slow comfortable screw up against a wall. Although, we usually substitute our regular gin for sloe gin. Schweppes lime cordial is my go to cordial, straight or as a mixer. For vodka's I've recently become a fan of Ketel One. Mine is no secret - chambord, nice vodka and lemonade in a tall glass. Preferably Schweppes lemonade. (or anything sweet, colourful and with a parasol - bonus points if there's fruit on the side) Non-alcoholic it would be a chocolate milkshake, not a thickshake, a milkshake. Mon_Docteur nailed it with the description, real ice cream, and not too aggressively mixed otherwise there isn't that lump of ice cream left at the end. The old Virgin Australia pre-flight mocktail, they don't do it anymore, but it was one of the perfect pink cranberry and lime drinks served on a big shard of ice - I'd sell someones first born to get a reliable supply of that stuff. (Anything with a good amount of lime scent and/or coriander and I'm pleased)

I know I'll never drink Tequila again, that's one day of my life I'll never remember I found out in the weeks following I'd locked myself in the toilet of a pub and passed out lol omg the owner and staff had to get in and get me out, it wasn't pretty, years ago of course and I never did that again. My bf wasn't impressed particularly when I threw up out the window of his car all the way home. Charming behavior. I have no memory of all of this of course, only what I was told. So Tequila shots, never again The following Friday night, at the local pub, not the same as the other one, but swore off alcohol, was embarrassed and told everyone I wasn't drinking. One of the local boys had other thoughts and put Tequila in my lemondade, I took a big gulp and reacted accordingly. So twice I guess, but never again. My drink of choice now is scotch and coke zero, heaps of ice, or a really nice red wine which is handy when I don't have refrigeration out in the field lol I don't like anything sweet added to my drinks, has to be no sugar, it makes me feel sick otherwise. The only other drink I like is a Corona beer off ice, has to be ice cold, with lime or lemon on a hot summer's day near the beach, sit near the main path and people watch listening to my music, that's cool

forgot to mention gin and tonic or scotch and lemonade (no sugar of course) with lots of ice, wedges of lemon and lemon juice squeezed into it, when it's really hot after exercising in summer, it refreshes, really nice, even better with company

As I've only recently started drinking alcohol again after a decade of teetotaling. But I'm with S - Chambord and lemonade. My first few drinks of Chambord were with red bull thanks to a girlfriend. It's delicious! But drinking red bull with alcohol isn't advisable 😉 I'm enjoying Somersby ciders at the moment. Was hard to find a cider that didn't smell and taste of too much beer. Apple, pear and they now have blackberry which is my new favourite. Apart from that I'm ashamed to admit I'm a Coke addict! I also love cranberry and pineapple juice mixed together, or a little bit of apple juice and soda water - it has to be like the just juice carton not fresh apple juice (ashamed) but it's very refreshing. And I'm a latte girl but sadly I now have soy or almond milk due to a dairy intolerance.

has anyone tried the cocktail slushy machines? In a hot climate, they're amazing. In the Pilbara, think I drank nearly a whole slushy machine full of Blue Lagoon dry one night, continued to consume these slushies until about 4am, crashed in the host's bed lol and got woken up for breakfast not many hours later, with no hangover. Amazing, you hydrate as you drink

I'll say this quietly ... Mon_Doctuer4 if I did yoga (which I don't) I'd drink dandelion tea (which I do) Ok, with a more diverse take. It's morning so I'm drink strong black tea, no sugar. I'm a bit of a tea-whore, and drink loads of it, and loads of different ones. Well apart from white tea - because I don't see the point. A box of tea would be more apt that a bunch of flowers for me. Current fave herbal tea is Pukka Three Licorice or one for Tea 2 which is a pomegranate one that I mix with black tea. Only tea I'd drink with milk and honey would be chai. Coffee, when I drink it - which I'm not, as if I have one, I'll want 28 (only slight exaggeration). No sugar. I drink long blacks at home with a stovepot and usually a coffee called Hairy Chests :) Out I'll have long blacks, or piccolo if drinking in, and soy latte if takeaway. Have a soda stream at home, so always drinking sparkly water :) Go to wine is Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, dry Riesling. Though I also tend to drink Sav blanc, as all my friends do, so we buy by the bottle when out. Reds would be Cab Sav, Pinot Noir, Malbec or Burgundy. Or anything rather full bodied and dry :)Champagne would be Mumm. Go to beer is Coopers Pale Ale, or a craft beer. Cider if it is dry and added ginger is good. Go to spirit is gin, tequila or whiskey, or absinthe :) Go to cocktail is a whiskey sour, or any of my other fav spirits and love anything citrusy. Soft drink... would be tonic, so I can pretend I'm drinking gin

For breakfast there is a Golden or Ramos Fizz... then on a hot day a few Blue Hawaiian separators for lunch ...then for dinner a few you'll not go wrong with a few shots of Macallan 25 Year Old Sherry Oak. Someplace in there you might want to toss down A Whopper or Big Mac but honestly...you won't care whether you do or not!

Quoting 'SoftandCurious' Apart from that I'm ashamed to admit I'm a Coke addict! Well done, SoftandCurious, don't be ashamed. I used to be a coke addict too then discovered the NA program of recovery. Wish I had found out about that before I went broke and had parked my car on the front garden of the police station.

A friend recently got me to try coconut water with Malibu - yuuuum! So coconuty and would be a great way to stay hydrated all night I really love cocktails like Mojitos, Fruit Tingles etc. Miss Little xx

I discovered this was the best thing about San Churros, and easily made at home. "Hot and Cold" which is a hot chocolate with a huge scoop of ice-cream in it, experiencing the hot chocolaty liquid, collecting the cooler, creamier icecream, and melding it together in your mouth, soooo sexy!! For extra decadence, use Connoisseur's new Chocolate Brownie ice-cream!! Andy

I've just discovered Mango Mojitos. 1/2 lime, mint leaves, 1 tsp sugar, Mango nectar (or replace with favourite nector Pineapple/Peach), Rum or Bacardi. Decorate with lime or pretty umbrella. These are refreshing on a hot summers day and easy to make. Mmmm The best Mojitos I have ever had, was at Cape town, SA. Truely delicious! Mss Foxy
