idea to get a better pic

im not a photo person. i could probably count on one hand the amount of times ive had a photo taken of myself. i just dont see the point usually. so that means i have absolutely no pics of myself newer than 8 years old. so im trying to take a pic of myself for this site, but not having much luck.cause im holding the camera out, or pointing in the mirror, then i either get blurry, or flash, or smear or bad light etc.anyone got any idea of getting a picture of myself, short of having a friend ask"why do you want a pic of yourself"?

Equipment - stool or ladder or gaffa tape - camera with self time - great smileMethod - Find the room (window)with the best light in your house (early morning or late afternoon when the light is softest) Open curtains/blinds - you want the light to hit your face, so stand next to/facing the window. Sit camera on the window at head height (gaffa tape/ladder etc). Set camera to self timer (10 secs) get into position facing the camera (which means you are facing the window) take a few shots and look at them. (play some music and have a drink so you relax).Then adjust the self timer to 2 secs if you like and keep changing poses...profile, full face, 45 degree and just playEnjoy the experience and upload the ones you love.

I take a lot of pics with my phone so I can put some up on here, but they come out so bad, they don't even look like me! (maybe I think I look different to what I actually do)

Dont doubt your friends willingness to assist you.... or... get better friendsYour female friends in particular, would be interested to hear why you'd like their help (which they will happily offer).Im same situation as you, more often behind a camera than infront of it..... so I had to come up with creative ways to obtain photos that I considered useable in here.I dont consider selfie bathroom pics as a positive in here..... or the photos of (a single guy but) shagging some poor woman in his pics.Take a look around at a few other profiles and see which photos catch your attention, those which repel....and why. Listen to the ladies responses, after all, theyre part of your target demographic so to speak.DG

take as many pics as you can...indoors, outdoors, nude whatever...and cull the ones you dont like...there'll be a few...of those you like maybe change a couple to black n white,blur yr face...and bobs yr uncle.

That's exactly what I do, though about half my pictures I took with my smartphone. My stockings one was taken with my camera (the size of a pack of cigarettes, so nothing fancy) set on timer, and balancing on a Tupperware container. Don't be afraid to take 20 photos to get one good one.

Like my profile pic, get a pic of you doing something interesting. If you go fishing with mates get one of them to take a photo of you reeling one in. They not gonna question why they just gonna try and get the shot before its too late. - Posted from rhpmobile

I aim the lens at myself and look into the mirror to see what I am taking a shot of... hope that helps :-)

u could try a photo booth at a shopping centrei've never used one, but they're usually inexpensive
