its show time!...

September 19 2016

ok well maybe not what some of you might have expected i'm referring to (atleast in Perth coming up shortly, our Perth Royal Agricultural Show) yes, i know you have others around the country too. do you still enjoy going to the event? or are you one of the rare ones whos never been and isnt too fussed? what do you look froward to each year? and what would you like to see more/less of? might even be a good opportunity to bump into a few people :) ...i'll wait to either hear the yawns or some excitement on another topic which is just a little bit different to the rest I was contemplating just putting this in the Western Australia section, however that still doesn't seem to be getting the attention it deserves

I love a good show!! Give me a country one though as opposed to ones in major citites. They are always lots of fun...and Beryl from the CWA always has a great cuppa with jam & scones ready for folk to scoff.

For most of my life I used to compete with my horses at the Royal show... I still go every year... I love Royal show doughnuts.. And I love the feeling around the stables and yards where everyone's horses are looking so beautiful and there is so much excitement and anticipation in the air... Xx Miss L. Ed.

and when younger, was the highlight of the year. our country show was one week before the big city show. Mainly rides and showbags,. kept our parents poor buying showbags of crap for all their kids. It's the one time of the year we would be loaded with sugar, aside from xmas. Pretty much climbing the walls at night. so hyper. My dad had a solution, we would go on loong walks or runs with our dogs to burn off excess energy. That made us hate loading up with the lollies and rationed it over the weeks as treats in our lunch boxes. Lol. Now my kids are pretty much grown up and city slickers, they roll their eyes on the shows. they have been a couple of times but that was more than enough for them not to go back. the rides were not that exciting for them anymore (yearly trips to Gold coast theme parks spoiled them and the show rides -' are only for little kids mom' ). Sad really sometimes. who's gonna ride the pirate ship with me again?

I love the show went to the Perth show every year now in Esperance a lot smaller and more expensive I think that no matter which show you go to there should be a badge or a ribbon that other rhpers can identify and go for a drink let's face it everyone needs a drink after a few hours walking around the show - Posted from rhpmobile

I love the Royal Easter show here in Sydney. I love the crowds, animals, sideshow alley, showbags, food stalls. I love everything about it. - Posted from rhpmobile

We have a ute comp here which I've entered since it first started. Getting together with a group of friends this weekend for a working bee to make sure our Utes are all in prime condition for the event (looking forward to it). To be completely honest, if it wasn't for the ute comp, I wouldn't be going as it seems to be getting smaller each year and my children are now adults and go with their friends if they choose to go. I went to the Melbourne Show a long time ago when I was a teenager and considering going next year with a group of friends and my kids.

nice to see some good responses to this the miss more so enjoys the animal farm ladida stuff than myself but watching some of the horse shows/stockmen stuff is quite interesting with some of the stuff they do nice to see what new products are out n about, new food/drink creations, whats happening within agriculture around the state, lots of free samples of things the rides/sideshow alley stuff, eh, a bit over a lot of that tbh

Actually I thought you meant a specific agriculture show, like in the country, but the Royal show, yes, always major excitement going to the show, we'd save our money all year as teenagers in order to splurge on the day. There's something very romantic about that atmosphere with company. I love the smell of popcorn, hate eating it, just love the smell, in cinemas or at shows, all part of the array of things teasing our senses. Actually it's probably the combo of cow dung, donuts and popcorn Wandering around aimlessly but knowing there'll be something going on to watch or do, fashion parades, I love watching them and what about the show bags, you know you're getting ripped off big time but have to buy them. I love show bags, I used to save by not going on many rides so I could buy heaps of show bags lol we could go to the shop and buy the contents for a quarter the price but it's just not the same. It's a day of delicious indulgence. I haven't actually been in years. Datefinder I'm thinking, anyone want to come and see I_touch spew on a ride
