Hi, Seems RHP listened to us on the update. I had trouble logging in when it first went into production. It was very much less user friendly. The format they have right now is perfect I think. I am not anti change but I am anti change for change sake. If it is not broken you dont need to fix it :) LC

Three things I have noticed so far. I may be fussy as I do usability testing as part of my job. 1. Tells me I have 43 Matching dates. Clicking on that link I expect to see my matching dates, not a search widget.2. I now have to click to see the notifications. Previously you could see them scrolling on the screen.3. They haven't carried the new styling across to everything. Forums still look the same and profiles still look the same. Yes it has the new header, but everything else is the same. The new flat button style hasn't carried across. Do I like it. Style is ok, but don't like some of the usability changes.

Hi guys! Just letting you know that the new layout change and overall look is to comply with the change in how people use the Internet these days, particularly in regards to devices (ie - the rise in RHP'ers using tablets and smartphones to play with us). Tech heads will understand what responsive design means but essentially, we needed to finally convert our website to responsive design so it works well on whatever platform our users use to surf RedHotPie. If you feel this new look reminds you of other websites then you're not wrong: most websites have switched to responsive design. There are many advantages in building websites responsively and we're committed to ensuring that our website complies. We hope that at the same time most of our users will appreciate the changes. Overall, the website hasn't changed THAT much. We removed some things and added others. We know that change isn't always fun or welcomed but we hope that over time you'll love it. Navigation (once you are used to it) is easier and the real time info screen (which has been with us since 2003) has been replaced with something that gives you info more efficiently. Please feel free to let us know if something is amiss via the Help Ticket form. We're still fine tuning here and there and some problems we can't identify until a full load of our users runs amok on it. RHP Ed.

Fair'n'well about trying to come up with trying to keep up with the new platforms etc, but what about letting your customers know about your proposals in the first instance ? A consultative process usually goes down a lot better than a dictatorship style of operation - who knows, the regular users might actually have some worthwhile ideas for you to incorporate before you finalize something new. While I'm at it, have you also put some thought into getting the chatrooms back up to scratch ? When I joined up some years ago, there was a choice of individual state rooms, and then you had the 'big' room, and also the CI chatroom on the weekends (I know they've since gone). Then you changed the format altogether, and to put it bluntly, it turned into complete crap. That is one reason I have not bothered to renew membership any more. So has that "improved" as well, or not ? Tall

This is great news if RHP is truly embracing mobile devices.Means RHP must be getting rid of flash and all the flash crashes which happen. Replacing the flash chat with a HTML 5 chat which works on mobile devices would be a great step up. Quoting 'RHP_Editor' Hi guys! I don't think the redesign "hangs" well together, the old version felt cohesive - though it was horribly broken on mobile. But that was in regards to search, and the mobile use of the forums sucked - but those issues weren't with the UI presentation, just the way the code underneath failed. The forum software in general needs a redesign, but the layout was actually fine. I know the functionality hasn't really change, but the styling was better before hand IMO.

And then you have to message someone to see who they are anyway, so why wouldn't you just message them that? To everyone who's complaining: I have to say you're a bunch of old change-resistant fuddy-duddys! Change is a good as a holiday, especially when you see solutions where they're not rather than seeing imaginary problems or barriers. We're good at adapting to changes in technology, we've done it our whole lives and we will need to in many more ways before we leave this crust (touch someone's wood). Think this typing into a keypad/keyboard thing is something we'll be doing in 10 years time still? I don't think so. Adapt or die (virtually).

I understand the driving force behind the new layout - compatibility with mobile platforms where people tap with their thumbs instead of using a keyboard and a mouse - that is the future so nothing wrong with that.. However, I don't like 1, the top banner is static and the rest of the screen scrolls underneath it - this is unnecessary - I know who I am I dont need to see that section of the screen static - takes up screen room and gets annoying after a while 2, buttons on the forums have not been changed - the main colour of the site is red and green yet the forum is still blue and with small buttons - the design is not consistent - therefore confusing 3. finding forum topics is not simplified - therefore confusing 4, I dont want to get popup messages when someone looks at my profile - the red count is indicative enough..the popups are distracting and overwhelming especially from a female point of view... this looks like a "half baked" makeover - not particularly user friendly - not particularly finished - but it will get there eventually... an idea - involve users in testing - give them a small gift in return :) involving participants is a basic principle of managing change in IT projects :)

How about some basics for mobile devices 1. Reconition of CR button to start a new line instead of having to enter a break command. Doh.... 2. Get the quote button working for mobiles. 3. Clicking on a post notification in your stream should take you to that post, not the start of the thread and then scroll or page on. Like it worjs with the 'Like post' notification. Wish lists. Practical things over cosmetics.

I like how the top menu auto-hides when you scroll down, very naaaaice. I don't like how it tells me I have a new message and then gives me a button link to "view message", but the link doesn't show me the message, it shows me my inbox, which is the same as clicking the other button "view all messages". Both buttons link to the inbox page which seems counter-intuitive. I would expect the "view message" link to take me to that specific message and save my poor fatigued fingers that one more click. That's all for now. Generally love the update, but then again, I'm not your target customer so you probably don't really care, and I'm totally fine with that. xx CT

i find it quite disappointing that these changes were made that seem more directed to Red Hot Pie wants then the customers wants. at the very least of you want it more user friendly for mobile devices you would think you would have fixed the basics that Whateverway mentioned. In the end it doesn't really matter what we say through does it as ultimately Red Hot Pie will do what they want and we either stay or we don't. missb

Practical things over cosmetics. seems stupid to have to be on a computer to use the quote function, you'd think that would be an easy thing for them to sort out, and yeah, being directed straight to a post, also I noticed in the notifications, it says you have mail from someone, but when you click on it, it just takes you to your inbox, well what's the point in that, an extra button to click, may as well just go straight to the inbox, time wasting and not user friendly (I'll have to check that again, think that's the way it rolled last night). Is it just me or do all the forum topics not show up in hot topics, I sometimes have trouble finding a particular topic, even when they've been running for a while and it then involves going through all the categories to try and find it again. Such a pain and the search function is totally useless, there's something they need to change

"Quick quote" and "Reply Quote" sections on lifestyle forum also took some tweaking to become operational with hand held devices. If members hadn't posted to describe step by step exactly what they were doing to gain rejection/unavailability message the techs could never have sorted it out. NOTE: It also meant that sometimes the site needed to be closed for 12-24 hours for techs to locate and correct problem but members were advised a few days in advance that this was happening.

We're going to close this thread now but we once again urge those with comments to contact us via our Customer Support ticket system so we can directly liaise with you regarding the issue raised.
