There was a range of ages at the Adelaide meet, starting from mid twenties. Same at the Perth one last year. But I have seen Meet and Greets posted lately , eg "Perth Young and Fun Meet Up", which is a good thing, gets the younger people involved socially and meeting people. At Adelaide there was no issue with age, everyone got on and all had a fun time. Some of the "older" people were partying the whole weekend, its your frame of mind that counts as to whether you have a good night. Its like most social networks, there seems to be a divide, albeit maybe not purposely. Take the Forums.....you dont see that many people under 30 who are regular posters? At the end of the day, if you go to any Events you are going to enjoy yourself and meet like minded people. I have made some great female friends on here, one is a mere 24 but very worldly wise, another is a 60 year old social butterfly.

I think you will find that it is usually one of the "older ones" who can be arsed organising a meet and greet....a mostly thankless task. No matter what age range is actually listed on the m&g event listing, people will query it. Every m&g we have organised in Melb has been open to all ages...and its always the 30+'s that query if any youngesters are attending....instead of ballsing up, registering and actually attending. We had one event where 18 of youngsters kept querying, we suggested if they all turn up they would have someone to meet and chat with..on the night one managed to do so (and had an absolute ball!). To be frank, there are alot more of the older crowd on this site, so that reflects in the average age of the attendees. Not sure of those of us in the 40+ range really care for being labelled the older crowd though 🤔 There has been a few m&gs specifically aimed at the "youngsters", I've noticed them in pretty much every state....or perhaps you can organise one yourself? You can usually find one of them to attend if hanging out with the oldies is not your thing...cos you know, we only talk about boring oldie shit, like swinging, parties and sex 😈 And as for arguing too much..... its called having an opinion and the confidence to voice it.....when you're grown up you'll understand. 😉☺

You are a standout as far as negative forum commenters go...

  • RHP

Who do you consider your own age? You've stated you age is 30 - does that mean I'm old? Is 34 too old? You should really be more specific when talking about age ranges. If you look above Mrs Adelaide is 27 and sounds she had fun - she would probably consider you an oldie. And I agree with Jonesy - all it takes is a little initiative and some organising to get a meet and greet together. That's if in fact you want to meet anyone from here in the first place.

No, I didn't see or read anyone call you shallow, I read that you called yourself that. As for the "oldies" arguing, I am not sure what you mean by that? Can you explain please? As far as what I read, your question was answered respectfully. I found your comment offensive, if anything. I think you'll find there's more people out there on RHP, than there is of forum posters. The forums are a teeny weeny aspect of t&is site. Maybe attend a meet, talk to people and see for yourself. Then you can make your own mind up. Ms Foxy

Summer, Is there a reason you posted about your meet in this forum, with the main topic being the recent Adeliade Meet? Was it directed at any pictular person? or was it just a common competitive brag? I think it is off topic, as you have written a forum up about it. yeah? So maybe you could be respectful and take it up in that one. You know yourself, there's a downstairs area with a bar/dance area/tables etc where people can also meet others and go, if they want too. So, I'd say, it's not quite full. So Candy (others), if you want you could go to that area, as others later on will most likely head there. To others: Can we at least show the OP a bit a respect, please and bring this forum back on topic? Ms Foxy

  • RHP

    RHP User

Foxxxy: it's related to Candy's question about the age at the events. Not all of your own posts were strictly on topic - you posted in jokes/comments to other people in the thread, what use was "number 196" or telling the OP that you know "nofink"? This despite the OP just asking for reviews of the event. Nobody came in and threadjacked it onto geopolitics of oil pipelines in Kazakhstan or something completely OT. IMO Candy's question was more relevant to vampavibe's original question than other responses by people who attended the event. Oh Candy, Candy, Candy.... *slowly shaking my head* Blind Freddie could see you were going to get that response to your question (and now I have Iggy Pop in my head from that sentence start). (or hear it, if Freddie was using a text to speech screen reader system) I imagine M&Gs tend to skew older than 30 - look at the average age of posters on here, and RHP in general - but then even if people only mixed purely in their age brackets, and the median age was 70, a 50 person gathering could still have over 20 people under 30, so that'd still be a decent sized crowd of people even if they didn't mix and mingle with the crowd that is in their twilight, rather than the crowd who watched it at the movies. But you just simply can't ask those questions, Candy, life lesson there for you, young'un... now as an experienced player, you might tell a little fib and say you tend to prefer a more mature, experienced and worldly crowd, imply something positive... and then when the doddering old codgers tell you that's what it is, that they told the whippersnappers to get off their lawn, that all the finger food contains pate, soft cheeses, and nothing that could snag a denture on... well, then you know it's not for kiddie-winks and you can avoid it like the plague (though some of the attendees could provide tips on how to do that, having witnessed it first hand) (I didn't find the question objectionable, I just knew the response was inevitable... and I wonder whether this post will stick around or just last a few hours before magically vanishing into the ether when our benevolent overseers wake up) TBH I expected a little write up from RHP and some pictures given it was a significant RHP community event, more so than the boat parties that get shoved up on the "community" pages, how many ended up going? The event numbers went through the roof once the event listing moved onto the front page of events for the month

I actually share Candy's thoughts, well the part about the age of most going. But first, I'm happy the event went so well, great news, sounds like you all had a lot of fun but I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing age or other aspects of who attends or how the night went. There seems to be a requirement inside topics raised by this group, that all comments have to be to your taste, if not the person gets slammed. It's called conversation, unless one person is being attacked, that's different, but otherwise, where's the harm in raising different points about meet 'n greets or whatever the topic may be. Candy has a good point. Age may not matter to someone in their upper 40's or 50's, but that's because a larger proportion will be younger, no not all, but a larger proportion, but from someone in the early 30's, most will be older, so it's a valid comment I would think Let me put it this way. How would you feel, at age 49, or 52 in my case, if the other people attending were mostly in their 70's or 80's lol that's the way you have to see it, that puts it in perspective. As far as oldies arguing too much, Candy come on, you're up there with the best of us lol age is no barrier there To add, for me personally, I wouldn't have a good time with people my age. I would want to be with younger people, I'm turned on by younger people and spend my time with them, and I'm horny, so I'd get frustrated having to sit through a meet where I wasn't interested in taking someone out the back lol I'm just not one for small talk, the talk would have to lead somewhere. I completely understand the concern about age, and fully understand there would be a lot of people who wouldn't want to be in the room with someone my age, and accept that. Long as I have a few who are, I'm happy

You talk about being respectful? Where is the competitive brag as you call it? You yourself suggested Candy should maybe attend a meet and greet. Considering the National/Adelaide meet and greet (which sounded like a blast) is over, is it unreasonable for Summer to make a point that the Sydney meet and greet is full? Candy has her location listed as Coogee which according to google maps is 20 mins or 9.9km away from Sydney. She asked whether these events are usually full of oldies. If you take a quick look at who is registered for Sydney you will see that there's a large portion in their 20's and early 30's attending. Which would mean that if the event wasn't full Candy would be able to meet a large number of people in her preferred age bracket. Summer was just pointing out that there was a conveniently located meet and greet Candy could have attended if it wasn't to maximum capacity. Candy if you'd like to meet some younger people you can put your name down on the wait list, and Summer can contact you if spaces become available. And it's useless mentioning others areas within a venue that aren't booked for the meet and greet as you should well know - the actual name of the venue is not allowed to be listed under the events section. It is against RHP policy. Those details are only released to those who have registered and made the cut so to speak. All your comment has done is try to stir trouble.

The Adelaide Meet was a blast. Anyone looking for photographs Ill gladly give my FB name. Whats with the rivalry. ..we are grown ups and should act accordingly. Im getting pissed off with the " our event is better than yours" shit...we all have events in different states and are always successful. Its sad that it comes down to childish bickering. After our Xmas Meet and Greet Im leaving RHP. Its been a great experience but this " we are better than you " stuff is grating. Ive made lots of lovely friends on here..and that wont change. X

Surely the discussion you have entered and participated in on THAT subject is just as "Off-Topic" ?? Just saying...In anycase...it does appear the Adelaide function went well...and I hope the Sydney one does also..AND in fact.. seeing as to how I am not in competition with anyone...."I hope every fckn M&G happening GOES-OFF "

I hope that my post did nothing but clarify why Ms Foxy's little bicker was unnecessary. There is no rivalry as far as we know. We have heard from a number of people that Adelaide was a brilliant weekend and was to be commended. Everyone I've spoken to along with myself wanted nothing but success for the event. And we've made supportive comments to the like. Candy was asking about meets with younger people. The fact that she lives 20 minutes away from an event that has lot of her age range was pointed out that is all. I pointed out a wait list because as Summer said, people always pull out and don't show. The waitlist may mean that people who were too late to register before the final cut off, still get to go because the numbers drop. And it's obvious the person stirring the pot is the one who's "sitting back with her coffee" and as per usual has caused useless drama.

And the other organisers of the Adelaide event I'm genuinely thrilled that you had such a great time and the interstaters have said the same. From what I've heard you guys and gals can throw a great event and it would be a shame to see one of the main organisers finish up when you always have such positive feedback.

On my Wishlist is Perth so I can finally meet the WA contingency and soak up some of their awesomeness 😌 I like numbers, the more the merrier but also Candy some of the smaller M&G's around the 20-50 can be a lot of fun too. As for ages......everyone from generally 25-60 attend and no it's not a blue hair brigade just some very easy going, fun to meet, chat, dance or hang with people. By and large people attend to get their brave on and meet others (look at MissB GO from that first one she attended!!) and trust me a lot of attendees aren't regulars on the forum or in any kind of clique. We've had first daters use them as a public gathering to meet in, couples from RHP overseas come have a look see, people who just enjoy the site for the reading and to meet people outside their usual social interactions. Regardless of what transpires throughout the evenings, safety of the guests is paramount as is the entertainment/happiness and comfort/inclusion of all who attend. Any party without goodwill simply sucks and defeats the intent of opening a door of opportunity to make the most out of this sites networking potential. Rivalries aside ...... isn't THAT the whole purpose of a meet and greet? Keep it lighthearted friends, alienating the very people who'd like to attend an event isn't good form or does it speak well of our behaviour as adults. And just quietly, Brisbane 2017 is looking FUN, SOCIAL and INCLUSIVE so long as you have your manners and respect for yourself and others intact. For those who still wish not to indulge in a M&G it's your personal preference and those are also subject to change at whim. All the Best ~ Indy On Safari

There should have been more but we had around 40. The only concern was that the people who were there all had a great weekend. And that they did. They were all genuine, gracious and up for a great time. Everyone got on and there were new and enduring friendships made. Thats why we have had so many meet and greets. We want people to meet up....so many people complain that they never actually meet anyone. It makes us happy to see new friendships ( and more ) :) being forged. I know some folk have blasted us as they think it should be a hook up site only. But when I leave in December I will still have all the beautiful friends I have made here. We are having one more party in Perth.....plans are underway. For me RHP has been much more than a dating site. Blimey, Ive rattled on! Ok and one more thing. Precious and Deal did a fabulous job in Ads. I couldnt get over til Saturday but they had everything going smoothly and everyone was happy. They are the stars of the show. Guys, youre the best! xx I hope everybody has a great time at the Sydney M and G also. The social aspect is fantastic :)

Quoting 'Champagnesunsets' The Adelaide Meet was a blast. X I don't know who was being addressed here, was it to me? (yes I'm a narcissist, of course it's all about me ;) )

We will make sure it hits the minimum spend. Couldnt think of anything worse then organisers that volunteer their time would be out of pocket.

But if there was an out of pocket cost for the original planning and it wasn't covered by RHP then shame on them. I truly hope that the people who put time and effort into organising not one but two events didn't have to lose out.

Just to stop any more speculation and negativity when the actual event has been and gone, we arranged the Event in good faith. A furore over the cost actually cost us numbers. We went ahead because people were still looking forward to attending and had arranged flights and accommodation. We did inform those attending it wouldnt be the huge bash that had been planned but they replied with a "So what, we just want to have a great weekend" attitude which made us realise that the show would most definitely go on. As has been said, we had a great weekend, the people who were in Adelaide were the best, all genuine and happy people, just there for a good old party night ( or 2 ) with likeminded people. We will have magical memories of that weekend, I will be going back to Adelaide with my guy and we have people coming over to Perth that were there. We are now planning the Socialites Xmas Party, and theres a family friendly BBQ being discussed. All in the next few weeks. We are not dwelling on anything because it turned out to be a top weekend. So if its not bothering us, please dont let it bother anyone else. Something I learned here was just because something doesnt turn out the way you expect, it doesnt mean that it wont unexpectedly turn out for the better. You guys have a big Meet coming up, just make sure its the great night you are hoping it will be, turn up and have yourselves a fabulous time! xx

That all those forum posters who had so much to say when we first mentioned the National M & G are still so concerned after the Event. Awwww - You Guys!!!!

So much to say? Forgive us, thought it was a forum. And here we go again with your closed 'we're doing it our way, to hell with what most other people want' comments (including hearing their opinions apparently), though past tense now. Perhaps if your organisers had been a bit nicer to 'the people who have so much to say', you might have had more than 40 people turn up, just sayin 😉 that's what caused the damage, you know it, so why continue on the same way now? Let people have a say. If some of it's negative feedback, big deal. Don't start a forum topic if you're going to get precious about what is said and expect everyone to agree with you. Or not, just a thought. Up to you, but it hasn't made your group look very appealing either. What you do with that from here is up to you, allowing people to speak and have their say would be a people skill that seems to be lacking here 😃

Good to see you have so much to say about nothing......as usual! And BTW - the only damage that happened on the weekend was documented in Report 196!!!

The Sydney Meet should be the only topic of conversation now. The Adelaide one is gone and the people who went had a great time. Itouch....youve no interest in social meets so once again, not sure why it interests you? Lets move forward. We have our Xmas do to organise and Sydney meet is around the corner. Any more needless negativity and this thread should close. Its just tempting the same olds to chip in with empty noise.
