I agree....speculation indeed it was on my behalf....some may even say it was a low blow....can understand why they'd feel that, but I'd disagree with it. $9 does seem a tad small I agree, given that it would be covering a pretty standard 3 course dinner......but I guess the concession would be the inclusion of spirits, as beer and wine are normally inclusive anyway. I also agree with your earlier point too regarding the supply of alcohol. - Posted from rhpmobile

Perhaps I should ask what softy has asked?? I've not committed to any decision yet, but without a clear picture of the alternative that you have mentioned, what kind of response would you expect when you're asking for commitment to attending before you'll release those details?? - Posted from rhpmobile

Thank you - yes that was what I was trying to get across. I tried to make my comment neutral and not an attack, but that doesn't seem to make any difference here.

To the well wishers who have been sending messages of support. We will enjoy a fabulous night at the M and G Theres a package in place for the genuine non drinkers. Talking of Events, after we had to cancel the Walk for Charity due to weather conditions, we have a big Quiz Night coming up. Bring the kids and have a fun evening raising money for cancer. Its on the 25th June, and should be up on the Events pages by the end of the week. See you there! xx

Quoting 'precious142' Quoting 'SoftandCurious' And sent a message asking about the price of the non-alcoholic package and the accommodation package available, which was how we were instructed to inquire. The message I got back was lovely - but stated those details would be released to me once I confirmed my attendance. It makes it difficult to make a decision without knowing what you're up for. Q - I agree Annie - what a lovely offer And two days ago you asked to be removed from the register...and you were! So what point are you trying to make now????? maybe she needed to be removed as she couldn't make a decision on if she could attend seeing as she wasn't able to get the costs involved given to her? or perhaps she decided to ask so that she could see if she could rehash the budget and fit it in and still attend.

RHP PEOPLE... the only way to to confirm attendance to ANY event listed on this site is to register your interest! So do that, and the organisers of this event will be in touch and should at that point let you know things like the no alcohol package price and the accomodation packaged......if you let them know that is the information you need. As the organisers have already stated you need to pay the cover charge money by a certain date....if you don't I imagine you can't attend. Therefore payment of the money is the final confirmation of your attendance. I'm sure the organisers have thought about some way of flagging the non drinking package people on the night, with a different coloured wristband colour or some such thing. As much as we all have a lot of big love for our fellow RHRs the organisers have to cover their themselves by making it very clear on the night who has paid for what on the night.

That was exactly my point. I registered my interest on the event, I emailed one of the organisers to ask for prices on the accommodation package and the non-alcoholic price for the event. I stated I had registered my interest and that I would like the prices to see if I can afford to go. And yet I was told that I would not be provided those details until I confirmed my attendance. How can I confirm my attendance and pay money when I don't know how much to pay? How can I make a decision as to whether I will be 100% attending unless I know the final cost? I didn't think my request was unreasonable? And yes I assumed they would have an easy identifier on the night between drinkers and non-drinkers as occurs at other events.

I did ask for my interest in the event to be removed after I made the request for information because the response I received, and then due to the response I saw on this feed.

you've posted the "all inclusive price" on the event listing, so there is obviously no problem with THAT price being made public, so... ...what is the "genuine non-drinkers" package price? Please end the speculation and just post the price

Quoting 'social_suicide' So here is a night out for comparable cost. I get the train into the city (lol) which cost $6-7 , go to a fancy restaurant and get a large Big Mac meal for $11, I skip the posh dessert and head to the pub. I proceed to drink 5 schooners at $ 11 each ( yes its in the city ), on the way out I buy a packet of potato chips while I'm waiting for my $50 cab ride home. Its ok to say you cant afford it but to complain that the "meet and great" is expensive is just a bit sad. Quoting 'social_suicide' Grown ups whining about $120 LOL.... Get a life.... OH that's right you don't have one cause $120 is cost prohibitive. Best stick to dogging hey, cost nothing to visit a public park, and you don't have to buy posh food. A Big Mac in a parking is easier to swallow than some of the disgusting comments we've seen here, and as we dislike both Big Macs and parking lots that's saying something. We're sad to learn there are some ugly people here. Just contact Rydges Adelaide by email or phone and give the event date. Ask for non drinking price and also the accom price reduced rate. Simples. Then post it on here and put everyone out of their misery. Once all prices are on the table, people then have 5 months to organise themselves.

I think you'll find there will be a few people saying "I'm a non drinker", so they do not have to pay the full $120, when in fact they are. 😉 I have seen it posted. How do you suggest Perth Socialites, sift through genuine and non genuine?? Ms Foxy

Koko and Precious have everything under control to ensure this event will be successful. They've organized so many successful events before, so so I do not think this one will be any different. Keep up the good work ladies. Ms Foxy x

Jeeeeeezus, Really? Just to find out a cost? Appears to be a lot if hard work to find out. Courious... if one phones the place and asks about the event prices, Do you think Rydges would share that info with someone not involved?? Maybe you could try and let us know? I'd be interested to hear outcome. Thanks in advance.

Hard work? Really? No different than typing on here,"can you tell me the price of a non drinking package" Maybe Rydges will reply to the enquiry that has been asked by numerous people on here... For quite a few days.

It's not the organisers job to determine if an attendee is a drinker or not.....if someone says they're not, they get an identifying badge/wristband or similar on the night in question and are served non-alcoholic drinks.... Me for example.....I'd have 3 maybe 4 on a big night.....I find alcohol makes me sleepy quite quickly. In my circumstances I may just sacrifice the alcohol and a hotel room, so that I can begin driving back home and setup the swag to sleep somewhere on my way home..... Some May say I'm just being tight....pfft maybe....I'm merely deciding what's best for me and my situation. - Posted from rhpmobile

... always the Tasmania option? The Old Woolstore and the Chancellor rock and I've done the corporate thing there before as well. I also know the owner and chef at the Drunken Admiral restaurant then hey....if you want to go fly fishing, 'tis some of the best on Planet Oz. Just sayin'......... There may be no man or woman left standing once the battle has ended.

But as well as being a bitch, a sensitive bitch and now stupid bitch........ Food only package. Different coloured wrist band. The drink police ( management) will be constantly be nazis. "Sorry sir but you are drinking alcohol " "Fuck off, i bought it at the bar" Then old mate can slip you one (drink......)from the tray and pour it into the purchased glass.... Open to abuse and inuendos etc etc. Not very pleasant. Curly one to you Precious. Food only and let everyone buy their own drink?

But Annie - just letting you know we have all bases covered to identify the genuine non- drinkers. And whats more, if people are that immature and cheap that they think they will get in and outsmart the drink police, best they have another think. BUT..... I do believe there is a party being organised in the hotel carpark - think free drinks will be available there?? This is not an event for people who have to resort to that sort of behaviour.......just makes you look ............ Anywhoo....Long weekend in Perth so enjoy all and stay safe! x

That I was not given the no drinker price because someone decided I will drink? It's the only conclusion I can come to? Please correct me if I'm wrong. And it still doesn't answer the accommodation question. I'm not stirring the pot - I wanted to come to the event.

Plenty of people have seen me do that 😁 No way I could be described as a genuine non drinker. But I don't drink and drive. So some nights I don't drink. If I make it over to the event I might be driving; doubt I will be staying at the venue and there are not many other options in walking distance. And I hate the uncertainty of waiting for a taxi at the end of a big night out. So does my prior history exclude me from being classified as a genuine non drinker on the night if I am driving?

So I'm assuming that the reality is, that there's no separate "non-drinkers" package?? - Posted from rhpmobile

i am saddened by the turn of events but not surprised. I think people are voicing their frustration from lack of information, being dismissed with their concerns and worst, treated with contempt by Precious and a few supporters. It is not a good look and taking the shine off this special event. A big PR disaster. As organizers, you are selling this event to both seasoned Meet attendees (captured audience) and enticing new faces into the mix. In this case , you are alienating a good number of them with your comments and inconsistency in your approach. I was hoping that the RHP management and marketing team would come to the table and lend a hand/advice in the marketing side of the event. And PR advice. It seems like the organizers may have the operational side of the event sorted but the marketing and PR side is just off the rails. A pity. Use this as an experience to consider how feedback is important in getting your event off the ground. In any implementation process of a project or event (for this matter), feedback is crucial and it does test the robustness of your product. I think everybody should calm down and assess what is going on. The organizers should by now heard the frustration of the people they are meant to be reaching and engaging. New forum readers will read this and will stay away from the event due to the negativity. As I have advised earlier on the thread, as others like Q and Annie as well, before we were told to bugger off, that perhaps closing this thread and starting anew would be better. But that is my input and opinion. I know how you feel about our well intentioned input and not telling you what to do. As one of your supporters said that we should just pretty much shove it as there are no buts, no ifs or maybe. So it is set in stone. Lovely. But my thoughts and comments above is just another person giving you objective feedback. But don't listen to me. I shall just close the door now and I heard ya loud and clear... I'll go and make self-love. I dont expect to see this in the morning as I am sure the work-experience kid will be up here cleaning up the isles very soon. Best wishes.

If you dont drink alcohol. there is a separate package. Otherwise, there is a food and drink package. How simple can it be? I find this speculative witch hunt to be quite disappointing, but whatever, the M anf G will be a great night to the people who have registered and are attending ...they will have a great night catching up with stateside likeminded people. Look forward to seeing you xxx
