Quoting 'kingoftheroad'When people go, I often regret not telling them how much I loved and respected them. So I try to do it now, while they are here to hear it. That's lovely, I do that....I mean it's nice to know you left such an influence on someone and everyone likes to be appreciated. When things aren't so great they can think back on it and smile at the memory. Attended a week long management workshop once and at the end of it we had to write one nice thing about each person we'd met through the duration on slips of paper. Some knew each other some didn't, they were all anonymous little observations and we were given them in an envelope an hour before leaving.....there were alot of surprised and happy people left that workshop feeling pretty damn special. Excellent team building exercise too I might add. Keep it up dear.

Thank you both for your very generous response. Indy (if I may be so bold) I love your bit about the word and the moment etc. Living and acting in the now is so important, and so is trying to do no harm. Cwhere, I was greatly touched by your work to build a relationship with your dad. It can often be so hard. I never knew my biological one, but with some work on both sides my stepdad and I created real respect and love over the years. And only now he is gone can I see how many things he was right about.And now a real proverb. 'Non sine pulvera palma'. Which is Latin and what the charioteers used to say. Roughly, it means that the prize - palma - is not won without dust - pulvera. Which means that you don't get what you want without work. But, of course, we knew that already.
