I picked up season 1 of The Crown yesterday on DVD. I love it. I've seen it before on Netflix, almost exactly a year ago...when I was holed up with chicken pox, in an apartment in inner-city Helsinki. It felt like the worst flu I'd ever had, times ten...didn't know I had the virus at the time...but, it seems even the poor european nations, like Estonia, enjoy internet connections we don't have. And free internet everywhere. The day I got home to Oz...feeling rough as shit, my blisters in full bloom by then...I watched some more Netflix that night, and burned through a hundred dollars of Telstra wifi too. I promptly cancelled my Netflix subscription the next morning. Haven't heard good things about the NBN yet..

Adult chicken pox is one of the worst experiences that I remember because I could not believe I felt so crap! Holed up in the house for 2 weeks, I thought I was going to go crazy. Oh wait... Our country is so backwards, we have it all and it's being parceled out to people with money, by idiots with no sense. Peachy

Effects on adults. Gums deteriorated from 2.5 to 5 pockets, become colour blind(red and green), small loss of sense of smell, vision not the same. And also sinus problems and hearing change. Permanent damage after the pox.

Since the state electoral boundary changes I'm in a different electorate, and there is a very good chance we'll end up with a No Notion (One Nation) MP. If that happens I will be releasing the kraken I've been keeping under the house for just such an emergency.

I've been manually uploading years of CD's to a new iPod today and yesterday...partially because my old 16 gig Nano is full, but also cos my laptop had relegated 3/4 of my saved music to the trash, at some point in the last updates to my operating system. It sucks...and I was dirty as hell...but I'm dealing with it now. Anyway. Going through CD after CD from my past( a packing box full ), and picking out the songs I want to hear still, I came across Pink Floyds, "Dark Side of the Moon." The classic. Having a listen quickly, I didn't really care for any of it. Too depressing. Too dark, mostly. Not a single song I wanted to upload. A little surprised. I thought I'd still find something in common there.

Poor you if you have ended up with a No Notion No Hoper as your elected representative. WTF does that say about the mentality of people in your electorate and in so many across the state where some got up to 35%!!!!! FFS I had hoped people had had enough of a certain angry bitter empty -headed red head in her 60's and her nasty associated empty vessels but apparently not!Anyway hopefully we still end up with the much preferred outcome

It's ironic. Not all conservative values align with conservative political parties and/or policies. For example, I thought the no vote for SSM would come quite highly from those areas also likely to support One Nation and equivalent on the right (outback QLD and Aust in general is/was a hot spot for "anti-gay" sentiment). Yet the highest no vote was from Western Sydney, on (for all intents) fundamental religious grounds (they cannot construct any argument against that doesn't mention a religious book or a deity). The irony is, despite the conservatism on this issue, because they are also highly multi cultural and working class, they vote highly for Labor and the very least likely to vote for One Nation. The opposite also occurred in seats held by conservative politicians. - Posted from rhpmobile

I think perhaps a lot of the people voting one nation are just protesting but are too far right to vote green ? If not then clearly the education system needs some work ! The whole one nation team seems a hotch potch of dissafected nut jobs of all persuasions. I also think that Pauline doesn’t care that much about the quality of the candidates as long as they cough up the dough for the massively over priced election materials. It seems more and more that one nation is less about issues and all about financing Pauline.

Quoting 'Sailbadthesinner' I think perhaps a lot of the people voting one nation are just protesting but are too far right to vote green ? they also had a centrist independent they could have voted for if they wanted to protest, most didn't. One Qld'er who was interviewed said they liked how Pauline speaks her mind, even if she's wrong. That was enough for them to vote for her, and it reflects the views of a lot of people up here who are seriously lacking in the ability to think critically about who and what they're voting for. There were quite a few people who were annoyed that Pauline's name wasn't on their ballot paper, they thought she was the one they would be voting for. If you don't even understand the basics of how the voting system works, well....

That's what I say to my brother, when you look at the suburbs and the people you see around ( I assume it's Thuringowa) then it is not surprising they vote ONP because they fit the rather unattractive profile.........just what I would expect! Let's just say I'm not too surprised that some comments were deleted. If it had been my thread I probably would have requested deletions (not saying that the OP requested it, I have no idea what happened), although a couple of comments that were being responded to seemed perfectly fine to me and not sure why they were deleted as well. Maybe to stop further responses. Who knows.

when they claim to love the bad girl, the kinky naughty side of me, by private message, then do a double flip after not getting a reply, turn up in a forum topic I'm active in, and say the exact opposite, back up the prudes, well that's when I open fire 😉😉 (before that gets reported, a figure of speech only) So who are they, kinky fuckers or boring prudes, keeping that concealed until we meet, or just pissed I never replied. I don't usually quote but made a special exception. LD I hope you're not suggesting I behaved badly? Stalking people or using the forum to offload frustration towards a person deserves what it gets. Why report it?

shouldn't be reporting comments, interfering with interactions, unless it's shit being slung at them or intensely offensive, meaning to the public reading it, otherwise they should leave it to the people in the exchange to report if they're worried about it. LD you heavily filter your topics which is a pain and unnecessary. Even non offensive comments of mine you've removed at times? The op at times needs to step in, but not to the point of tailoring responses to their own taste

You are not alone. It's fucking shithouse! I'm dealing with a very recent sad sad loss and grieving from my dad who had over 24 brain tumors (passed away July 30th). Sad to know you are and have been in a similar position. I happened to have today off work anyway, but will be going to visit in the hospital today. The hardest part with previous such losses (via illness/accident etc) is that it seemed, especially at funerals etc, that every person was partnered, and so while having a general family support, also had a close support at all times and in private. I'm still at times affected by some of these past events a decade or more on, so it will remain to be seen what happens from now.

SF I’m sorry for your loss. I also experienced the same, it’s tough and traumatic for the family. It’s been many years since that happened to my family but I still tear up even now thinking about it all. I was discussing this with a friend who is going through something similar and as I was telling her about it, out of the blue I started sobbing in the restaurant. I don’t think I have truly appreciated how traumatic the experience was for me, even tho it happened more than 10 hrs ago. CT. That is terrible news. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how a person would deal with info like that.

You actually asked me to leave because I had a different opinion, then followed by enforcing that. And here you are again removing my comments, which are not even close to being abusive, nor were the others, giving me no right of reply and heavily filtering yet again?

Yes, Redhot's departure from Melbourne has caused all sorts of weather chaos along the Eastern Seaboard ! Melbourne is hotter than Brisbane, and the Sydney weather has been thrown into turmoil as well, with all sorts of weather pattern records being set as well. To be honest I skip a lot of what you write these days, and I haven't even seen any responses from you towards me for days, until just now. I’m sitting in the pool with a glass of wine last night, music going, feeling very chilled after a huge day... Talk to Annie for a bit, hang up and message Jonesy, make a joke about the upcoming storm, asking her if she’s ready? Yep, she sure is, but guess who isn’t? 😬 So in a different headspace, it hadn’t even occurred to me! Half an hour later (the boys were home, with friends, so I put them all to work) the outdoor furniture was sorted, succulents safe, any ripe fruit/veg picked and watering systems turned off 👍🏼 I’m looking forward to a weekend of movies and board games with my boys (whether they like it or not 😂) and pretending that Saturday’s open for inspection isn’t happening, because let’s face it, it’s unlikely anyone will show *madly cleans the house AGAIN just in case...*
