What is your word today

April 17 2016

A favourite word, one you like to use regularly,or one that's an occasional word, perhaps a word that you only write, never say out loud . My favourite word today is louche,a word about being careless, care less Q

Is a funny word because it appears to have taken on a tangent meaning. It literally means 18 inches. So I love to throw it out there when appropriate. Where my peers may say "It's about 450mm", I would say "About a sesquipedalian". Oddly I am rarely questioned with "What the hell did you just say?". They usually just nod and say "Ok"...like they actually knew what I was talking about. Howover the word seems to have evolved to mean...Uses long words. Hence it may be said that this thread has elicied a myriad of sesquipedalian posts. 😁😁😁

Methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylarginyl...isoleucine - the chemical name for titin, the largest known protein, important in the contraction of striated muscle tissues Chemical compounds such as this, are regarded more as verbal formulae rather than English words. It is my word today however, and get this, it actually contains 189, 819 letters How cool is that? Now just for fun, I thought I'd go and research this little baby. It was gripping reading, not. Incredibly complicated, intense, my brain actually hurt Anyone who studies this shit, I tip my hat to you. I now know it is important in the contraction of striated muscle tissues and that it connects the Z line to the M line in the sarcomere (as well as a whole lot of other lines and variants depending on which muscles etc etc). It functions as a molecular spring which is responsible for the passive elasticity of muscle. Sexy stuff I know and sounds simple enough right? That's just a tiny, tiny little quick overview. It was when I got to the isoforms, structure and amino acids, and more, I knew I was outnumbered. I let the little beasts get to me

Quoting 'usrightnow' Nice to have had a couple of days off here. However, missed it. Thanks I_touch., I thought so. Mrs. urn had a look earlier, however is now fast asleep. Must get her to suggest a word. Okay, today, a word I say every day. In fact, I say it many times a day. Cheese. Now, I'm not a big cheese eater,(occasional bit of camembert), however I do regularly talk about putting cheese on crackers, with the addition of gherkin. It's often sung, usually to a television show theme tune, like the ones for Midsomer Murders or Downton Abbey. Of course the children think I'm quite mad. Thankfully, I know I am 😃😃😃😃😃😃 . Mr. urn. . Mrs urn is looking damn hot in this pic, the one showing today. I hope Santa comes more than once a year. She looks needy but in a good way

I stumbled across this one after using the term as another name for a joint (marijuana) when talking with some friends from the UK. They had not heard the term so I googled it. To my surprise the meaning found was to insert 3 fingers into the vagina and one into the ass. The revelation spawned the forming of a special salute that featured regularly in our holiday pics. The first 3 fingers held close and the pinky out to the side. Kind of puts a funny spin on Scooby-doo 😂

This one is pronounced (mah-mee-lah-pin-yah-tah-pie) and here is some additional information:The word Mamihlapinatapai (sometimes spelled mamihlapinatapei) is from the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego, and listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the "most succinct word." It's considered one of the hardest words to translate. Here is another way this word is sometimes used: "It is that look across the table when two people are sharing an unspoken but private moment."

My words are: annoyed and frustrated! I was supposed to be admitted into one of Sydney's well known hospitals today for a procedure, which I was booked in since last week. But ended up the hospital didn't have a bed for me and didn't bother to inform me sooner until I called them the third time at 3pm to follow up! And still they waited until 4pm to call me to say that they didn't have a bed for me today! Nor would they know if they would have a bed for me tomorrow! Hence, there is a 50/50 chance that the procedure might not happen this week, after all! So annoying so frustrating because, I had to make alternative care arrangements for my mother, which involved other people reorganising their plans too; plus I had to reschedule one of my other appointments for this Friday, which was made a long time ago, because of this urgent procedure! So, if the procedure didn't happen this week, that would mean that I made all those alternative arrangements for nothing! This is totally frustrating and I'm so pissed off at our public hospital system! Although, this incident is an experience to gain, I am still not happy with the way our public hospital system goes! They could have mentioned the option of going in as a private patient if they were that busy! I was referred to this particular hospital by another hospital, so they know that I have private health fund. Thus, I should be given the options to choose since I have informed both hospitals (which I have been attending recently) many times that I am the sole carer of an ill parent! How politically arrogant and unhelpful can the government entities be?! Argh!!! - Posted from rhpmobile

to read a number of posts concerning censorship in another thread. Brief Synopsis (No names, no pack drill): One of my own posts was censored/deleted over the weekend. Amongst other things, that post of mine made mention of Article 19 of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. My post had been in response to a person whose own posts had appeared to level some false and flawed allegations, and which also sought to direct/enlist/influence others to not read posts that that person interpreted as "negative" or "aggressive". (In my view, this appeared to be based on a very clearly flawed capacity for English language comprehension). When I noticed my post missing, I asked the Mods for an explanation (but did not actually complain about the person to whom my deleted post had been addressed). The Mods responded: "...If you have an issue with a post or a poster, then please report the matter to us, rather than use a new post to address the other party and more than likely cause further issues which really does not need to be aired publicly to other posters, who no doubt would prefer to read pleasant topics." Interestingly, the person to whom I had addressed my deleted post now (in that other thread) loudly and proudly decries calls or acts of censorship! Astounding. I am flabbergasted by the blatant (yet unrecognised) hypocrisy!
