What's pleased you today?

April 20 2016

This has to be the flip side of the venting thread. Two things have pleased me today, being human therefore somewhat selfish I'm happy to have a new job. It's no big deal as it's an internal vacancy doing essentially the same thing but it is an improvement as it involves a great step sideways, same pay grade but into another department with a better culture and budget (overtime $$$). So better pay and conditions, slightly better but significant.YAY.On the bigger picture the Govco's announcement about doing "something" about domestic violence against women is a long overdue initiative. It also looks like it has a chance of being effective and turning the tide and culture of the demographics that need a better break.*Please don't overthink my use of the word demographics as I mean women across the socio_economic spectrum*It's about time the cowards of this world disempowered, it's up to us the populace to to help curb this scourge of our society. If we can make this happen a double YAY would be in order

Day 5 of holidays post Christmas I have done zip, nada, zilch. Three books devoured (the simple joy of reading rediscovered!), lots of lounging around, snoozing and chatting with friends. I am starting to feel human again!

I left the house yesterday for the first time in 5 days. I needed time to hibernate and did some writing. Feel ready to enter the world again now, even had some lovely male company last night. 😍

Did you hear about the man in Perth who paid for his son to get a job. It paid off. No joke. I know there are issues that go with it but yay to think a young one is gainfully employed. Peachy

Gloria Struck is a 90-year-old great-grandmother who may be the oldest active female motorcycle enthusiast in the world. She doesn’t just ride around the block; she rides from New Jersey to Sturgis, South Dakota; from New Jersey to Daytona Beach, Florida. And those are trips she makes annually! And she’s not content to ride on the back. The 5-foot, 125-pound dynamite handles her own 700-pound Harley Davidson just fine. Gloria explains why she will never, ever trailer her bike. She also talks to Growing Bolder about how her riding inspires people of all ages, including others who would never consider riding a bike. She offers words of advice for those who tend to sit around in their older years — get out there and get active! She describes her family’s 100-year-old love affair with motorcycles and how she’s overcome discrimination against female riders over the years.

It's been a while since I posted here but finally the thought is again reality and here I am! Apparently, it was World Nude Gardening Day yesterday. What a day it was in the group I'm part of! TOO Funny seeing all the pics from nekkid gardeners, men, women and couples! All considerate and not too hot... and the men! They were the ones with tools in hands. Peachy

What pleased me today : * I attended a workshop and created my very first terrarium! Yippee! :) * I virtually have the entire week off work, except for one work day. * I'm attending an event that might be life-changing and it's something I had been dreaming of doing for the last few years. * I think the plants in my little apartment are thriving! Succulents, Venus Fly Traps, airplants, orchids... all seem to be happy and healthy! :) Always good to focus on positive and nice things to take our minds off the more stressful stuff and the darn horrid people we have to endure. :P Great topic, OP!

Touch, I have to admit I was taking a poke at RHP picture standards as to what we're allowed to show on here. I think a lot of those pics show a lot more than we get to see around here these days. (that's why I don't bother paying membership any more ;-D). Some in the group were downright risque and all were wonderfully imaginative... Haha! Peony! Now, that's what I call HOT! I wonder if the pics have anything to do with the huge number of new 'members' (see what I did there hehe), or if triple digits is normal. I'll have to keep an eye out. Peachy

I was still stuck on the pics in the group I first mentioned... It's a pity I was too gutless/lazy to add any but I had plenty of fun looking at everyone else's naked gardening pics. The numbers of new members to the group is still climbing, there must be something about nudity that is attractive... Peachy

Lots of things. The beautiful ocean drew me in again, along with some eye candy 😎 I found a sexy pair of bikini pants, op shop but new/never worn, half price $2.25 lol talk about a tight arse 😀 picture coming soon to a store near you 😉 Just made some really yummy little chicken and salad rolls, hit the spot 👍 For all the Queens fans, had Eva Vulgaris cd playing in the car all day today, my new favourite song, not new but my song of the moment, 'I'm Designer'. The coolest song. If you haven't heard it, in my best Molly Meldrum voice, do yourself a favour. Has to be loud, really loud, and you must move your head in time to the music, feel it 😂 Another song from that album 'Into the hollow' which I have two versions of. Love both but the slower one is so beautiful, makes me goose bumpy and horny, it's a sexy version 😛 Plenty of exercise, awesome day

Those are interesting song choices... In the song 'Into The Hollow', do you suppose the fool is the person who reads, studies, thinks, and learns a little each day? Or do you think the fool is the other person (the one who dismisses and derides such people, thinking he/she has already learned all they need to know)? I would agree it is sometimes foolish to share knowledge - especially a little knowledge... Drink deep and all that guff, eh?! ; )

I think it only effects the mobile app. A couple of people have asked and posted about it over time... Something to do with facebook I think... because our profile pic is available to underage net users publicly? I can see most of the pics people post saying they've been rated too hot by the site though. Times have changed... Peachy

Sounds the way to go! Sadly, today's lunch did not arrive at all like I ordered. The only thing they got right was the meat and broth. Mushy thick rice noodle and no onion at all. That's a tear in the corner of my eye. This is normally one of my favourite meals. I'll hold the bean sprouts and coriander for you... Peachy

Yay to mended bridges.a Christmas bonus we weren't expecting.having the kitchen pipes fixed by a family member after we realised the cupboards were flooded and various dishes and pots were filled with water a few days ago. Still some challenges to get through to the end of this week, crossing my fingers. Hoping for the best outcomes for everyone else in the mad rush to Christmas and a mention for fellow Perthites in this disgustingly hot weather. Peachy
